Jace, Isabelle, and Clary gathered in Alec's office at the institute, exchanging concerned glances as they discussed his recent behavior. Alec had been spending an unusual amount of time on the phone, often caught with a smile on his face. It was a stark contrast to his typically reserved and focused demeanor.

"I'm telling you guys, something's up with Alec," Jace declared, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. "He's been way too distracted lately. I can't even get a word out of him without him grinning like an idiot."

Clary frowned, her brows furrowing with worry. "But we can't just invade his privacy, Jace. Maybe he's just going through something personal."

Isabelle chimed in, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Oh yeah, because personal phone calls always result in dreamy smiles and constant secrecy. Come on, Clary, you can't be that naive."

Clary sighed, realizing that Isabelle had a point. "Okay, fine, maybe we should look into it. But we need to be discreet. Alec deserves his privacy."

Just as they were contemplating their next move, Maurice, Alec's mother, walked into the room, her eyes gleaming with a mixture of excitement and knowing. She had just returned from Idris and had firsthand knowledge of Alec's budding relationship with Alice, thanks to the bragging of Alice's grandmother, the Inquisitor.

"You three," Maurice began, her voice filled with authority. "Whatever Alec is doing, it's for a good reason. I've just come from Idris, and let me tell you, Alice's grandmother couldn't be prouder."

The three Shadowhunters exchanged surprised glances, their jaws practically hitting the floor. Alec in a romantic relationship? With Will? It was beyond their wildest imaginations.

Isabelle was the first to break the silence, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Well, this will be an interesting conversation with Magnus. I'm sure he'll take the news wonderfully."

Jace, still in shock, muttered to himself, "I should have never introduced them. I never thought he was serious about it."

With Maurice's reassurance and their curiosity piqued, they decided it was time to confront Alec and get some answers. They found him in a secluded corner of the institute, engrossed in a phone call. His attention was so absorbed that he didn't even notice their approach.

Jace cleared his throat, breaking Alec's concentration. "Alec, we need to talk. What's going on with you? You've been acting strange lately."

Alec blinked, a hint of surprise in his eyes. He quickly ended the call, slipping his phone back into his pocket. "What are you guys talking about?"

Isabelle crossed her arms, her gaze sharp. "Oh, don't play innocent, Alec. We've noticed the constant phone calls, the secretive smiles. You're not fooling anyone."

Alec's expression remained unreadable, his guard firmly in place. "And what exactly do you think is going on?"

Clary hesitated for a moment before speaking up. "We... we think you're in a relationship. With Will."

Alec's eyes widened ever so slightly, but he maintained his composure. He neither confirmed nor denied their suspicions, leaving the three Shadowhunters even more bewildered.

"We deserve to know, Alec," Jace pressed, his voice tinged with frustration. "You're family to us. If you're in trouble or if something's going on, we want to help."

Alec's gaze softened, a flicker of gratitude shining through. Alec sighed, a mix of defensiveness and determination in his eyes. "Look, guys, I understand your concerns, but this is something I need to figure out on my own. And as for others..." he paused, his voice firm, "they're not a part of this equation."

Jace raised an eyebrow, his tone shifting into a more brotherly complaint. "But Alec, he's technically my brother. And you're my parabatai. It's like breaking the sacred laws of bromance."

Alec couldn't help but crack a small smile at Jace's remark. "By the Angels Jace, I'm not with Will."

Isabelle leaned against the nearby wall, crossing her arms. "Yeah right, what other Herondale would the inquisitor be talking about? No offense, Alice isn't exactly, your type."

Clary nodded in agreement, a determined expression on her face. "Exactly. We might be nosy, not dumb."

Amused, Alec sarcastically replies "Thanks for the support guys."

"What the hell is going on then?" Jace snaps frustrated. "Suddenly you're having dinner with the inquisitor?"

"The math and the truth is. I know you're not into me and Alice well, you're not into that. So that leave one variable to this equation and it adds up" Isabelle points out.

"Well, I guess you forgot the exponent of sorts" Alec says.

Alec took out his phone, a mischievous glint in his eyes. He dialed Alice's number and held the phone up to his ear, waiting for her to pick up.

"Hey, Sugar Plum," Alice answered with a burst of laughter, clearly embracing the embarrassment. The group once again was left in utter shock with questions.

Alec's face turned a shade of pink, but he couldn't help but chuckle along with her. "You never fail with your pet names, do you?"

As the phone call continued, Jace couldn't help but voice his complaints. " you have got to be shitting me."

Alice retorted with a mischievous tone, "Blondie? Oh hey buddy, how've you been? Abysmally I hope. "

Alec shook his head, pretending to scold her. "Alice, be nice to Jace. He's still getting used to the idea."

Jace groaned dramatically. "I swear, my life is turning into a never-ending soap opera."

Clary laughed and patted Jace on the shoulder. "Come on, Jace. You know you secretly love the drama."

The conversation took a serious turn when Jace asked about William. Alec paused for a moment, knowing he had to tell the truth. "Will knows. He found out when I went to Idris."

Isabelle gasped, her eyes widening in disbelief. "Alec, you went to Idris without telling us?"

Alec nodded, his voice filled with remorse. "I wanted to see Alice, to talk to her in person. I didn't expect things to progress this way, but I couldn't resist."

Isabelle grinned, her shock turning into excitement. "Oh, Alec, you're done for. She's the one."

Alec's heart skipped a beat, realizing the truth in Isabelle's words. His relationship with Alice was unlike anything he had experienced before, and he was ready to face whatever challenges came their way.

As the conversation with Alice continued, Alec couldn't help but feel a sense of joy and contentment. The road ahead might be uncertain, but with Alice by his side and the support of his friends, he knew they could navigate any storm that came their way. Love had found its way into their lives, and they were ready to embrace it, quirks and all.
