[Fort]
"I just want nothing from this arrangement, please."
Those exact words keep on lingering in his mind like a broken recorder, Fort could not shake the painful tug of his heart every time he remembers how Peat looked tired, lost and at the same time hurt. He didn't know that Peat felt constrained by their arrangement. Fort just wanted Peat to be close again but he didn't know how and where to start.
Where did it start to go wrong?
Was it all wrong at the start?
Fort, who usually sticks to the decisions that he had made, suddenly was thrown into the endless abyss of his own what if's. A spiral he cannot seem to escape even with self-assurance. Was everything still worth it when the other person wants nothing from you?
"Sir, Mr. Sermsongwittaya had confirm his meeting with us and he will be bringing 2 people from his team." Namtarn listed out Fort's schedule but he was deep in his own thoughts that he missed most of it. Fort trusts his secretary that she will remind him again.
Fort was still distracted with his own thoughts when he heard a very faint knock on his desk, he looked up and saw that Namtarn was looking at him expectantly.
"Oh- alright, thank you for that Nam, send in the papers that I need to look over," Fort says trying to make it look like he heard everything that his secretary said. Namtarn sighed. Welp, that was not even a new thing but Fort feels something is incoming.
"Excuse me if I will be rude but Sir, fix it, whatever is bothering your mind." Namtarn pointedly says Fort can't help but laugh. He was amused at the probable fact that Namtarn can read him clearly.
"But how?" Fort asks, Namtarn very politely scolding him was their thing and Fort will always be thankful for Namtarn who always knows when and how to put him in his place when needed.
"Are you 10? God, you're 26, just 4 years away from being 30. Boss, believe me, it's simple." Namtarn says waiting for Fort to figure it out himself but the way she was judging Fort who was still confused, she cannot help another sigh escape out of her.
"Talk. just simple as that. You've known Sir Peat since you were 7. You just need to know the adult Peat instead of staying with your illusion that Peat is still the same as decades ago." Namtarn explains.
"Sounds easy but it isn't, he is so close to me physically but emotionally? I have no idea. For the love of me, i had to hire private investigators just to know his relationship with that Sermsongwittaya dude. He barely acknowledges me." Fort complained but he should not since this was also partly his fault. He had all the time of their engagement but he busied himself with other stuff with the excuse that this was for their future.
Well, where did that end for you? Nothing.
"Instead of looming over spilt milk and finding things you could have done better, start cleaning and rebuilding your relationship. Believe me, everything will follow." Namtarn says.
Fort shrugged at it but he is already forming a grand game plan on how to possibly talk to Peat again and mayhaps rekindle whatever is left of their relationship. If there are things to be rekindled.
"Oh right, when will our guest come?" Fort asks, hoping that his topic diversion would be enough that his secretary would forget their current issue for some time before she scolds him again.
