There was a silence between us as we walked through the forest which was a welcome change from all the fighting. We were both exhausted from our tomb delving so I suggested the two of us go back to town. Grash took a bit of convincing but he reluctantly agreed to go with me so long as we go our separate ways once we returned. Something to do with his strange sense of pride I suppose.
I however was more focused on the ring. It was brass with a blood red garnet and on the bottom was engrained a word, "Ilhalas" which didn't mean anything in the ancient tongue so it must have been a name of some kind. The name ringed a bell but I didn't from where which was quite annoying. The ring also gave of this faint tingle when I touched it which any mage like myself would know that meant the ring was magical but  what the ring was capable of I couldn't tell you. The ring was quite an enigma and I found myself wanting to know everything about it. Where did it come from? What did it do? What does Ilhalas mean? Like an unquenchable thirst, my desire for knowledge and answers burned. But at least for now, I'd learned all I could about it for now so I pushed the topic to the back of my mind.
Grash, Eeuna and I spent our time in relative silence but that changed when we got the edge of the Grune forest. "Hey we made... it" Grash said and when I looked up I was met with a terrifying sight.
"Oh gods" The town of Tlalil was engulfed in flames and rising from the town was thick, black smoke. I could see hordes and hordes of something approaching the town. Were those undead!? The thought horrified me. That the only home I knew was in danger and maybe even Uncle and Aunt! But I remembered Uncle's teachings. He always told me to focus and remain calm before taking action or else I could end up hurting someone. He was talking about casting a spell but the lesson was still applicable to right now.
"Come on we have to help!" Grash exclaimed and beckoned me to follow him.
"That's a bad idea. We're both exhausted and whatever's in town might kill us."
"But we can't just sit here and do nothing!"
"I never said we shouldn't help. Instead we should go to Inderishas" Inderishas was the closest settlement from here and about a day's march "and get aid from the local authorities"
"That'll take too long and we don't have time to argue. I'm going either with or without you" Grash said and took off
"Wait just think about this! Don't go" I tried getting him to change his mind but it had no effect "Gods damn it that idiot"
"He made his choice. Just let him go" Eeuna consoled
"*sigh* I know. All i can do now is make sure mine wasn't in vein" I marched down the road away from Tlalil with the hopes of finding aid in Inderishas.

I'd been walking for at least a few hours until Eeuna broke the silence that had become increasingly awkward. "So how come you've only used 2 of the 4 spells you know so far?"
"What?"
"You said you know flame shot, thunder jolt, frost snipe and tornado but so far I've only seen you use tornado and flame shot."
"Well if you haven't noticed we've only fought undead so far. The undead don't get care much for being cold or getting electrocuted"
"That's a shame, I want to see you zap fools"
"Don't worry I have a feeling I'll get the chance to use my other spells at some point. Though I think it's in both of our interests to avoid having to do that in the first place." after I said that I noticed the sun was beginning to set "In any case, It sure is getting late though and I'm pretty hungry after such a tiring day"
"Yeesh you could say that again. I can feel your hunger all the way in your head"
"Let me think of where I could find some food." Hunting was out of the question. Even if did catch a rabbit or a pheasant I didn't have any butcher implements. Fishing was out of the question as the only substantial body of water (the ocean) was miles away by now . That meant my only option was to find berries or some fruit.
"I see some berries in that bush over there" It was like she read my mind
"Nice find" I walked over to find a bush filled with raspberries. I systematically picked and ate every berry. It wasn't a lot but it should be able to keep my hunger at bay for the time being

"Well let's get back to it. I'll walk for a bit longer and when the sun goes down I'll go to sleep. Then I'll get up continue at first light"
"Sounds like a plan"
When night time hit I sat under a tree and looked at the ring on my finger "Everything happened so fast... I've so many questions." Who is this girl in my head? What's the significance of this ring? Why are there so many undead roaming out of there tombs? Is... Is Uncle Maugen and Aunt Zolia safe?
"I'm sure we'll both get answers in time."
"Yeah... Zzzz"

"Did you just say the letter z?"
