We cut the weekend short. We both needed some head space after the revelation that Mark could be a dad.

I didn't hear from him all day Sunday.

But he contacted me whilst I was at work on Monday.

MS >Hey beautiful, can I see you after work?xx<

I was shocked by the cheery tone.

Y/N >Hey x where do you want to meet?xx<

MS >Your house?xx<

Y/N >See you there xx<

When I pulled up my drive, he was stood at the front door waiting for me.

"Hello darling" he smiled, pulling me in for a hug, then cupping my face and giving me a sweet kiss. "I missed you"

"I missed you too" I smiled, kissing him back, pleasantly surprised by this welcome.

"I ordered pizza" he told me as we closed the door and headed for the kitchen.

I grabbed a bottle of wine out of the fridge and he took some glasses from the cupboard.

"You seem awfully chipper" I teased

"All in good time baby" he smirked "Food first"

As if by magic the doorbell rang and pizza arrived. He must have ordered it before I finished work to get delivery that quickly.

We ate and made general small talk like we weren't avoiding the most important subject.

After we ate, Mark took the empty boxes and refilled our wine glasses.

"Are you going to tell me why you're in such a good mood now?" I asked

"We got confirmation" he told me "I'm going to be a dad"

"Oh" was all I managed to say, unable to match his excitement "Mark that's....."

"You don't have to say anything" he cut in "Just listen"

"Ok" I nodded,

"I've been thinking all of this through these last couple of days and I think I've found the perfect solution"

"Ok I'm listening" I replied intrigued

"Come to America with me" he announced, and the look of excitement broke my heart, but not half as much as the look of disappointment once he realised I wasn't mirroring his excitement.

"Mark I...." I started but he interrupted,

"Just think about it" he interrupted "We can start fresh out there, I can still be a big part of my child's life and be with you at the same time. There will be no rush for you to find a job because I can support us both."

"Mark stop" I cut him off

"At least think about it" he pleaded, sensing my mind was already made up.

"Do you not think I've been doing a lot of thinking these last couple days too?" I asked "Do you not think I have considered the possibility of me moving out there with you?"

"Then what's the issue?" he asked "Isn't it the perfect solution?"

"For who Mark?" I asked "For you? or for us? or for the baby?"

"Everyone" he replied, looking confused.

"So we move to the states, we have your baby 3 nights a week, you get to co-parent I get to watch you bring up someone else child" I explained "I don't find a job straight away so I'm dependant on you, I wont have any friends, my family is here, my little sister is only young. How am I supposed to just walk away from the life I've built here?"
