A Lovely Routine

Every night by my beautiful Psyche's side is beyond compare.

No matter what we do, or where we are, the moment we are together, nothing else matters.

The world around me disappears and all that's left is her.

Her diamond eyes stare intensely into mine as she leans forward, capturing my lips in a passionate kiss, running her hands down every inch of my body, setting fire to my soul.

Her voice pouring out honeyed whispers...

However, today is the first break in our lovely routine.

I'm heading home earlier than usual, as Agape has informed me about how inconsolable my beautiful Psyche has been all day.

Upon arriving, I rush to our room and find her curled up in bed, crying softly.

"Butterfly?" I murmur worriedly, dropping my quiver and bow by the door.

She looks up in my direction through tear filled eyes, "Love? I'm sorry to call you home this early... It's just..."

I rush across the room and gather her in my arms, "No need to apologize, Butterfly, I'm always happy to come home to you."

She sighs contently as I run my fingers through her tangled locks.

"My sisters showed up at the cliff's edge today and started calling out for me and I tried calling back but..." She takes a deep breath, "they could not hear or see me..."

She breaks into tears once again, her whole body shaking violently.

"Oh Butterfly..." I whisper quietly as I hold her closer, "it's going to be ok, if they return, I will ask Zephyros to carry them down to the palace so that you can see them."

She smiles faintly through her tears, "Will you really, Love?"

"Anything for you, Butterfly." I murmur softly.

We sit in comfortable silence for a few moments before she speaks again.

"Zephyros... is that who carried me here?" She asks curiously.

"Yup," I reply, "the West Wind and my best friend."

"Wait, so my handmaidens..." She trails off, confusion evident in her voice.

"The Aurai, Nymphai of the breezes," I explain, "sisters of Zephyros."

"Woah... I have been in the presence of goddesses all along?" She questions, sounding awestruck.

"Yep, although I probably should've told you sooner... I'm sorry..." I trail sheepishly.

"No need to apologize, Love, I am glad you trusted me enough to talk about it." She replies softly.

"Always." I reply, smiling softly.

We slowly drift off to sleep, talking about everything and nothing.

The next morning

I wake up to my beautiful Psyche sleeping peacefully in my arms.

A smile forms on my lips but quickly disappears when I remember that it's time to leave.

I carefully untangle myself from her, and begin getting dressed.

After placing my daily note for her on my pillow, Ludus and I say goodbye to Agape, and then head to my mother's palace.

Flying into my room through the window, I quickly change clothing, and then head downstairs to join my family for breakfast.

As I enter the dining room, I see that everyone is waiting for me.

"Morning." I greet, sitting down at the table.

"Good morning darling, did you sleep well?" Mother asks warmly.

"Mhm." I respond, taking a bite out of a bread roll.

I hear all of my siblings begin to laugh quietly, exchanging amused glances.

"What?" I ask, annoyed.

"Nice hickey." Himeros remarks, smirking.

I blush furiously, my hand instinctively flying to my neck.

"You have one too!" I retort, using my other hand to point accusingly at him.

"I always have one, just an occupational hazard," He shrugs, "however for you to have one... that's surprising."

"So... who is the lucky soul?" Mother asks curiously.

Panic rises in my chest as I begin to stutter, trying to think up an excuse.

"Don't worry, I'm sure he will confess when he's ready." Himeros thankfully interjects.

I nod, relieved.

Everyone continues eating their breakfast, occasionally glancing at me with amusement.

After breakfast I quickly head to the stables, in search of Zephyros.

I spot him talking with his two sons, Balios and Xanthos.

"Good morning-" Zephyros begins before clearing trying to hold back a laugh.

"Morning." I mutter, blushing furiously.

"I see you've slept well?" He teases, leaning against a wall and crossing his arms.

"Please spare me, breakfast with my family was embarrassing enough." I groan.

"Sorry," He laughs lightly, "what's up?"

"Will you please carry Psyche's sisters down to the palace if they show up at the cliff's edge today? They showed up yesterday, but she was so upset because they couldn't see or hear her. I know this is a big favor to ask but-" I begin to explain.

"It's no problem, I can carry them down." He replies.

"Thank you so much, Zeph." I smile gratefully.

"Any time." He replies, waving me off.

Upon leaving, I begin to fly aimlessly through the sky, distracted by thoughts of my beautiful Psyche, hoping that she will rejoice upon being reunited with her sisters.

However, at the end of the day I am approached by a worried looking Zephyros.

"What's wrong?" I ask anxiously.

"After carrying Psyche's sisters back to the cliff's edge, I overheard them complaining about Psyche, saying that she doesn't deserve such good fortune, and that they should be the ones to receive it instead..." He explains grimly, "I believe they may be planning something."
