The next morning
I head back to Hephaestus' forge to check on the progress of the palace.
As I open the door, I spot Apollo talking to Hephaestus.
Apollo turns towards me.
"Well, look who it is," He teases, "the winged serpent himself."
"You seem to forget your place, Apollo." I growl.
"I forgot my place?" He scoffs, "you're the one who went and fell in love with Psyche!"
I quickly reach for my bow, pulling an arrow out of my quiver.
He quickly follows suit.
We stare at each other silently, our bows drawn.
"Enough!" Hephaestus exclaims, glaring at us both, "Apollo, I'll see you later. Eros, you need something from me?"
"Just checking up on the progress of the palace." I answer.
"It is finished! Would you like to see it?" He inquires.
"I would love to." I smile.
At the new palace
Hephaestus and I stand side by side in front of the newly finished palace.
Agape and Ludus sit on top of my wings.
My gaze wanders over the new building slowly.
The front of the palace has a beautiful garden, in the center stands an ornate marble fountain surrounded by roses.
A stone pathway runs through the rose garden and up to the marble steps at the front of the palace.
Large marble columns lead to the front doors which are adorned with gold and precious jewels.
On either side of the doors are large windows looking into the interior of the palace.
"Do you like it?" Hephaestus wonders.
"It's absolutely beautiful." I state.
He smiles proudly.
"Care to see inside?" He inquires eagerly.
"Of course!" I agree.
Hephaestus grins as we enter the palace.
"Welcome to the palace of Eros and Psyche." He proclaims.
"Wow..." I breathe.
The inside of the palace is beautiful.
The high ceiling is beautifully crafted with gold trimming.
The walls and floors are made of marble and polished to perfection.
In the middle of the main hall is an enormous golden table with golden chairs surrounding it.
To the left of the table is a long hallway that leads to the storage rooms, all filled with precious metals and jewels.
To the right of the table is a long hallway that leads to the living room, kitchen, and bedroom.
"This is amazing!" I marvel, studying the grandeur.
"I'm glad you like it." He grins.
Suddenly, Hermes appears behind us.
"Hephaestus! There you are! I've been looking all over for you!" He exclaims.
I stiffen.
"My apologies, Hermes, I was taking care of something." Hephaestus answers politely.
