Chapter 10

The throbbing pain in your arm was making it hard to focus as Henry guided You and Sam through the hoard of Infected, searching for a place to hide

"There! Get under!!"
Henry ordered,
pushing you towards an abandoned car

You quickly scrambled under the vehicle dragging Sam with you Henry following,
you weren't quite sure what was going on around you as you solely focused on the hot droplets of blood that poured from your wound.

As you lay under the car curled up in ball you felt your adrenaline rush begin to dwindle, leaving you with heavy eyelids that yearned for rest

"Help! Get the fuck away!" Henry screamed,
as he kicked away the infected that tried to get under the car

Sam clung onto your uninjured arm as he cried in terror as the infected attempted to drag him from under the vehicle,

"AHHHHHH AHHH"

Darkness began to bleed into your vision, your brain could no longer process what was happening,

And you passed out.

Suddenly a Clicker pulled Henry out from beneath the car,
Thankfully Ellie came to his rescue stabbing her switchblade into its neck killing it.
She then turned to the one grabbing at Sam's leg,
stabbing it in the shoulder

Killing it.

"Come on, come on!"
Ellie yelled,
dragging You and Sam out from under the car

Ellie's eyes widened in shock at your unconscious state,
quickly springing into action she checked for a sign of life
sighing in relief upon hearing your heartbeat

"I'll carry her, now let's get the fuck outta here!"
Henry dropped beside Ellie,
lifting you into his arms,
following Ellie and Sam as they all sprinted up a small grassy hill, but just as they had almost made it out into the forest

Kathleen shouted "Stop!" freezing them in their tracks

she aimed her gun at Henry once more, his grip around you tightening with fear
As he shielded Sam and Ellie

Suddenly from behind her a child Clicker leapt from a tombstone towards her screeching and knocked her onto her back, Henry, Sam and Ellie all watched in horror as she let out a bloodcurdling scream as the Clicker tore her apart...

While this was happening Joel finally caught up to the group
"This way now! Move!"
He yelled, urgency in his voice bringing them out of their
trance-like state

He Dragged Ellie and Sam by the arm, Henry followed carrying you as they all ran into the forest away from the destruction Kathleen and the infected had caused.

You opened your eyes to the sound of someone muttering,
immediately feeling a throbbing pain in your arm
Making you squeeze your eyes shut groaning in discomfort

"Don't move. I'm almost finished bandaging up your arm"
you heard a familiar voice say

You blinked your eyes open coming face to face with Ellie who was sitting next to you, Focusing intently on wrapping your arm up

"Where are we?"
you asked looking around,
not recognizing your surroundings

"Uh Some Abandoned Motel"
she replied,
Meeting your tired eyes

"Wait- Where's Henry and Sam!" you blurted out
Sitting up abruptly,
looking around frantically,
as panic overtook your features

"There okay, don't move you're going to mess up my professional bandaging"
Ellie joked with a smile
"There just in the other room with Joel" she added

"Okay..." you sighed in relief,
letting yourself fall back onto the bed, the feeling of the soft mattress underneath you,
causing you to let out a small yawn

"Anddd Done!"
Ellie grinned admiring her
'first aid skills'

"Thanks" you smiled,
trying to ignore the slight burning sensation on your arm

"It's no problem, oh and just so you know we did disinfectant it"

"We?"

"Okay.. Henry disinfected it, it was a team effort"
Ellie admitted,
Packing away her first aid kit

"Where did you find one of those?"
you asked, gesturing to the kit

"Bill."

"Oh, the dead guy...sorry that sounded-"

"No it's okay, I'm the one who said it when we first met" Ellie giggled, At your concerned facial expression

Just then You heard A soft knock and the sound of a door creaking open, looking up you saw Sam enter the room clutching onto his magic slate

'Your awake' he signed happily, rushing over and engulfing you in a tight hug, careful not to touch your hurt arm

'Are you okay'
you signed, sitting up carefully, scanning your friend for injury

'Im okay'
he reassured you

"How would you two like to read some Savage Starlight?" Ellie asked,
pulling out the comic
waving it around, with a grin

You signed Ellie's question to Sam, Who nodded enthusiastically in response

"I think that's a yes"
you laughed, As Ellie opened up the comic and began to read it aloud to you and Sam,
Making sure Sam could lip-read her words

You felt your eyelids grow heavy as you listened to Ellie's soothing voice,

You laid your head on her shoulder feeling yourself drift off into a peaceful slumber
causing the girl to turn bright red in the face..

"Night" you heard her whisper
Before you lost consciousness
Feeling safe by her side
A feeling you haven't felt in years.

And she felt it too.
