You and Ellie sprinted back to the house, flying down the stairs and rushing over to Joel,
Ellie began shaking his shoulders.
"Joel! Joel, wake up!"
She pleaded.
"Joel, wake the fuck up! Joel!" You begged,
kneeling alongside Ellie
When you got no response, you grabbed your knife and placed it on his chest. His eyes were slightly open now, following your words sluggishly.
"Okay... okay, look at me. There are men coming, okay? We're gonna lead them away from you, but if anybody makes it down here, you fucking kill them. You got it? Joel! Joel, do not fall asleep!"
"We gotta go!"
you pulled Ellie up, and you both rushed up the stairs
"Help me block the door!" Ellie ordered, her hands shaking as you both began dragging furniture to hide the basement door
Ellie led the horse outside, while you closed the garage as quickly and as humanly possible and then climbed on with Ellie's help
"Come on."
She nudged the horse forwards spotting the men and riding right over to them
"Hey, motherfuckers!"
She shouted,
firing her pistol at them
"Go! Let's go!"
she yelled at the horse
You wrapped your arms tightly around Ellie's waist burrowing your head into the back of her neck
"Keep comin' fuckers!"
Ellie screamed back at the men, glancing down at your panicked state with concern
Suddenly a gunshot rang out
and the horse collapsed whining in pain, you and Ellie were thrown off onto the rough ground, hitting your heads upon impact.
"I got them!"
you could just about hear one of the men shout, accompanied by the sound of footsteps quickly approaching you as your consciousness faded out
Ellie's head was spinning as she tried looking around, but her vision was blurred and her ears wouldn't stop ringing so she just laid there frozen in the snow fighting to stay awake
"Do it."
She heard a voice say as her vision faltered, Hearing the sound of a bullet being loaded into a rifle as she lost consciousness.
A gunshot rang out.
David had fired his rifle into the air, drawing the men's attention away from You and Ellie
He stared down James with a look of disappointment, causing him to cower in fear at his leader
He then placed his gun on his back and approached the dead horse examining You and Ellie.
He removed his glove and felt for Ellie's pulse before checking yours, letting out a sigh of relief upon hearing both your heartbeats beneath his fingers.
"Three of you with me. Drag the horse. The rest of you, stay here. Go door to door." He pulled Ellie's body into his arms,
"Pick the other one up"
he ordered one of his men, and immediately following David's request lifted your limp body off the cold ground
"You so hungry for vengeance? Deliver it."
He turned his back on the remaining men and gazed down at Ellie's blank face...
