Y/N POV

A lot has transpired in the last 3 months since Henry and Sam died...

Ellie and I have grown closer as the months flew by, Even Joel has finally warmed up to me although at first, he was quite hesitant he eventually got used to my company,

After the first week of travelling with Joel and Ellie, we were all sat around a small campfire and I finally asked why they were heading to Wyoming,

That night Ellie explained she was immune to the cordyceps and they were travelling to Wyoming to find Joel's brother Tommy,
to ask him where they could locate the fireflies that want to use Ellie to make the cure

Now I know that sounds crazy

And at first, I don't believe it either I just laughed thinking it had to be a joke
Until Ellie pulled up her sleeves revealing her healed bite marks,

And I saw with my own two eyes all the proof I needed, no one survived a bite more than a few days without turning...

she was immune.

Shortly after she shared what had happened the night at the motel after I had fallen asleep, and explained how she tried to help Sam by putting her blood on his bite in the hopes it could stop him from becoming an infected...

which as we know did not end well.

It took me a while but I think I've finally accepted that they are gone...
—--------------------------------

The door swung open letting in a cold breeze as a man entered with two dead rabbits strung over his shoulder, he hung them up by the door before kicking off the thick white snow from his boots,

An old lady sat rocking in a chair by the fire as she watched him place down his bow and unzip his winter jacket.

"And the gun," Joel said, emerging from the kitchen,
gun in hand.

"Who the hell are you?"
the old man asked,
taken aback by Joel's sudden appearance in his home

"Just someone passin' through. Take the gun out, two fingers only, put it outta reach."
the man did as Joel instructed

Why didn't you shoot him?" he asked, turning to the lady in the chair who sat unfazed at Joel holding her husband at gunpoint

"The gun's all the way over there, He didn't hurt me, by the way."
she replied, Gesturing to Joel

"Yeah, I got eyes."
the man sighed,

He then noticed a map laid out on his coffee table, beside a bowl of hot broth, smoke emitting from the bowl

"You made him soup?"

"Yeah, I did. It's cold out."
she admitted,
justifying her actions

"I'm lookin' for my brother." Joel went on

"Well, I ain't seen him."
the man scoffed, removing his hat

"I haven't told you what he looks like."

"He look anything like you?"

"A bit."

"Then I ain't seen him."

"He's got two girls with him." the lady interjected,
a smile creeping onto her face

"Can we come down?"
Ellie called out

"Think so"
you turned to Ellie

"No." Joel looked up to see you were already making your way down the stairs
"Ellie- oh (Y/N."

"Ooh-wa." the man exhaled in disbelief as you two trotted down the stairs loudly,
Causing the lady to chuckle

"What did I just say?"
Joel scolded, as you both quickly approached him

"Joel, come on. They're, like, a thousand."
Ellie gestured to the old couple

"Yeah what are they going to do" you added

"Who are these little psychos?"
the man teased

"Never mind them I need you to tell us where we are."
He positioned his map in front of the old man.

"If you got a map, why you lost?"

"Must've missed all the street signs in the enormous fucking forest."
Ellie exclaimed in annoyance,
Causing you to giggle at her sudden outburst

"Ho-ly." the man spluttered out,
raising his eyebrows at the lady who laughed alongside you

Joel looked back at you both with a stern glare before turning back to the objective at hand

"We're somewhere here. Exactly where?" Joel asked, placing his finger on the map. "And your answer better be the same as your wife's."

"Did you tell him the truth?" The man asked his wife

"Yeah."
She shrugged.

"Are you tellin' me the truth?"

"Yeah."

Believing what his wife had said the man shifted forwards and pointed to their location on the map. Joel holstered his gun, satisfied with the man's answer

"Well, you found a great place to hide, I guess."
Joel sighed,
taking a seat on the couch behind him

"Hide? Came here before you were born, Sonny. Get the hell away from everybody."

"I didn't want to."
The lady admitted

"Eh." The man dismissed continuing to speak.
"Listen, I didn't mean to upset you about your brother, but if you've come this far, then you know what's out there. You seen Cody?"

"Yeah, close enough. It's crawling with Infected."
Ellie replied,
You nodded in agreement,

"Yeah, Laramie and Wind River Reservation. Anywhere people used to be, you can't go there no more."

"So, you haven't heard the name Tommy?"
Joel asked.

"Nope."

"What about the Fireflies?" You questioned.

"We get those in the summer."
The old lady said with a nod

"Not the bugs, the people." Ellie groaned

"There are Firefly people?" The lady asked in disbelief,
not quite understanding what you had meant

The old couple broke out into laughter at the absurdity of firefly people

"You got any advice on the best way west?" Joel asked,
clearly not amused by the stern look on his face

"Yeah. Go east. But you never go passed the river here."
He outlined it on the map.

"Ever."

"What's past the river?"
Ellie asked

"Death." The lady stated
"We never seen who's out there, but we see the bodies they leave behind. Some Infected, some not. If you're brother's west of the river, he's gone."

"You're not gonna scare us." Ellie shook her head,
Moving closer to you and squeezing your hand in reassurance

"Scared him."
The lady nodded her chin to Joel,

His usual gruff exterior had been replaced by one of fear and anxiety, Worrying for his brother's well being

The old man chuckled as you and Ellie watched Joel nervously...
