Chapter 33

Suddenly The door to the kitchen swung open, and in came David and James,

they threw the cage open aggressively cornering you and Ellie

"No! No! No!" Ellie screamed,
Scuttering to the back of the cage pulling you back with her

James came lunging straight towards you

"AHHHG NO NO" you howled,
fighting to get out of his grip.

But you were weak and in no state to fight back

"Get off of her!!" Ellie wailed, watching your attempts to free yourself

From behind David grabbed Ellie gripping her shirt, his eyes full of rage

Without hesitation She drove her teeth into his arm, leaving a bloody bite mark

"Agh!" he exclaimed, kneeing Ellie in the stomach and dragging her out of the cell, towards the large wooden table.

"Wait, wait!" She cried,
flailing her body

"Shut up!" James snapped,
dragging you out of the cage behind David, throwing you to the ground upon arriving in the main kitchen area,

Joining David in lifting Ellie and slamming her onto the tabletop. She wriggled frantically to get free but they were too strong

Ellie watched in horror as David grabbed a meat cleaver, tears flowing down her face

This is it.
She thought this is how I die..

Your vision wavered as you lay on the cold kitchen tiles, listening to Ellie's screams, an overwhelming feeling of helplessness washing over you

"Wait! Wait! Wait! Wait! Don't! Don't do it! Please, don't do it! Please, don't! Don't!" Ellie wailed

"You had your chance."
David scolded,
raising the cleaver above his head

"I'm Infected!"
Ellie screamed.

David froze.

"I'm Infected." Ellie repeated,

"And now so are you."

David gazed down at the bite on his hand. blood beading around her teeth marks.

"Roll up my sleeve. Look at it. Look at it!"

He placed the cleaver down on the table right by Ellie's face. She winced away from it, squeezing her eyes shut tight

he rolled up her sleeve to reveal the tendril-covered bite marks that seemed to cover her arm

"What did you say? Everything happens for a reason, right?"
Ellie recited his own words back to him

"David."
James's eyes widened in a panic

"No. No, she would've turned by now. This isn't real."

"It looks pretty fuckin' real to me," James argued

Seizing her chance, Ellie grasped the cleaver and drove it directly into James's throat. launched herself off the table, his body collapsing against the wall, spewing blood

She darted over to you pulling you to your feet adrenaline pumping through her veins, as she used her remaining strength to hold you upright

David drew his gun and aimed at the two of you, his bullets hitting the kitchen tiles as you escaped out the door.

You and Ellie burst into the dining hall. She pulled you along straight for the exit door, pounding against it but it wouldn't open,

she placed you down carefully, before darting back into the lodge finding a log stove burning down in coals. She reached in and removed the still smouldering log, rushing back to where she had left you
