...

Friday October 17th, 1968.

You woke up in the arms of Wally, his hair messy and his mouth slightly open. Despite this his arms remained tight around you, securing you in place as you slipped out of his room.

The sunrise let you know that work had long started but you hadn't heard the phone ring yet so the boss probably didn't care.

What surprised you most was when you saw your moms old room door open and Elizabeth sitting inside quietly. You didn't say anything, just sitting beside her as she wrapped an arm around you.

"I had a bad feeling you know?..." she whispered as you looked at her slightly confused making her smile sadly.

"I had this feeling in my gut that something was wrong... so I drove here as fast as I could and found her dead in the bed." She said making you nod slowly, you sister always had that sort of instinct; she even told you when you first started dating Alexander that he gave her a bad vibe and to be careful.

"I'm sorry for not being there for you yesterday... I was so upset I couldn't think straight." She whispered as you hugged her a bit tighter, your eyes welling up.

"No... you had every right to be upset." You comfort her as she rubbed your back, sniffing a bit and rubbing her puffy eyes.

"I took the job. I called them this morning and they told me if I headed over there now, I could start working by tomorrow." She said making you pull away with wide eyes.

"But..." you stayed quiet, her eyes were tired like she hadn't slept much and she had a desperate look.

"I can't stay here any longer (Y/N)... all of our life we were taking care of mom or dad. I can't hold onto that any longer, it hurts too much... call me a coward or anything else but I need to think about Joseph now. I need to be more present in his life."

You looked at her with sad eyes before nodding in understanding. Taking care of your mom was something you always did in your teenage and adult years, but you'd do it all over again. You understood that it was harder on Elizabeth because she was with your mother more than you were aswell as taking care of Joseph.

"I'm gonna miss you..." you whispered hugging her again as she held the back your head close to her shoulder, tears soaking your shoulder.

"I won't be gone long I promise... I love you so much." She said as you began to shake, as much as you were happy for her it felt like everyone was leaving so fast.

She pulled away and held you face, kissing your head before standing up.

"I'm going to wake up Joseph. I already called Hannah and she has our stuff packed and ready for us to pick up really quick so we're gonna head out in about 30 minutes to make it to the interview in time."

You looked at her form in the doorway with a smile, nodding as she left leaving you in the silence of your mothers bed. The sheets were clean and folded but the lingering feeling of your mother still hung over the room making you claustrophobic.

Wally woke up to an empty bed, originally he had tried to reach for a pillow nearby thinking it was you but was unhappy with the cold feeling it provided.

Sitting up and looking around he noticed his door half open and you gone making him sigh sadly.

Truth is yesterday when he had drove you to the hospital his boss was furious. He'd called him cursing him out and even threatening the show until Wally had made a new deal: another 10 year contract on top of the contract he was in now which surprisingly Mr.Dorelaine was rather happy about. He still warned him to show up Saturday to sign the papers but he didn't bother with telling him off anymore.
