Saturday October 18th, 1968.
Wally sat in his dressing room vanity, a far off look while staring at himself.
His eye-bags were deep, dark outlines reminding him of the little sleep he got last night. His pompadour fell flat and sad as the hair and makeup crew desperately tried to fix his state. Enough makeup and hairspray to make him feel like a clown, but at least he looked the part.
You weren't there beside him. You weren't there to wish him good morning. You weren't there.
You'd left early in the morning, taking your things and bags while wishing Wally goodbye. You headed on the bus to the airport and Wally could swear he saw his life slowly grow to a dull color as you faded away from his sight.
"Mr.Darling?" A director poked their head in causing the makeup crew to work faster; desperately trying to make him look less of a mess than he currently did.
Wally made no effort to look over, simply giving an unconscious hum to the call.
"We're starting in 10." They informed, shutting the door as the makeup crew finished up. He looked fine. But he really didn't feel like it.
"Wally?"
He swore he heard your voice, his head spinning to the door only to see Barnaby.
"Hey kid..." He said quietly, a silence lingering as the makeup and hair crew walked out with their head hung low.
Shutting the door behind him Barnaby walked behind Wally, looking over his caked on concealer and crispy looking hair.
"She left this morning." Wally said, not bothering to look up at the mirror to make eye contact with his friend.
"Oh..." Barnaby said quietly. He'd hoped that maybe you'd say goodbye first.
"I'm guess you told her?" He questioned, already aware of the answer as Wally sat unmoving for a long period of silence.
"She wasn't even mad... she had this look... I felt like I'd broken her heart- I did break it! And then we shared a moment-"
He cut himself off, tears welling up causing him to chock on his words. Barnaby took notice quickly.
"It's ok pal... take it easy today ok?..." Barnaby whispered, offering a small pat on his back as he made his way out. He looked over at Wally one last time, sighing and finally exiting the dressing room; Wally following soon after.
People ran through the set, loud noises and instructions mindlessly being tossed around that he didn't bother to pick up on.
"Set scene one with Wally and Sally please!!" I director said as the filming bell rang.
People got ready; finishing touches on the actors and sets.
Wally looked up tiredly the fatigue hitting him hard as he scanned the set. He hadn't even bothered to read this episode script, deciding to go off the posters held by someone beside the camera with his lines.
He saw Mr.Dorelaine sit on a nearby seat, a proud smirk on his face as he looked at Wally.
Wally couldn't bother to react, he just wanted to get this scene over with so he could go home and rot in bed.
"And... action!" The director called, silence filling the room as the Welcome Home intro began to play.
"What a horrible day!!!" Sally pouted stretching her arms up as Wally gave a forced laugh.
