I don't know what I was expecting but it definitely wasn't Karlie going to a guest bedroom instead of ours.
'You still have a lot of groveling to do.'
How much groveling until I can have her back in our bed where she belongs?
"I need advice."
"You're coming to the wrong person, Kane." I tell him plainly, watching as he sits in the chair in front of my desk.
"Journey won't come here and I don't know what else to do. I thought I would be reason enough for her to come but I guess not." He mumbles the last part, looking at his hands.
"Why don't you go to her?" I suggest.
"Because she's not like Karlie. She'll freak the fuck out if I show up at her doorstep." He sighs harshly.
"Don't throw Karlie's name in it because your girlfriend doesn't want to come here. Did you even ask her why?"
"No." He mutters.
"Maybe do that." I shrug before leaving my office, going to find Karlie.
Instead of finding Karlie out in the pool, she's sitting at the glass doors with a blanket wrapped around her and a glass of wine, watching the rain fall with Logan beside her.
"Am I being to harsh?" She asks, taking a sip of her glass.
"No, I think it's being fair. Actually, you're being too generous. You let him take you out and y'all did the nasty in the car. You didn't have to do that after everything he did." Logan shrugs, glancing at her.
"I don't know, I feel bad. Last night, reminded me of before this volcano erupted and it felt nice. God, I need to stop drinking so much. I'm losing my mind." She chuckles.
"The wine did nothing, that was all you, girl." Logan defends the wine, making Karlie laugh before continuing to look out the glass.
Realizing how much of a creep I feel like after listening to their conversation and watching Karlie. I decided to announce my presence.
"Karlie."
"Just the person I wanted to see. Sit behind me, my back is hurting from slouching." She says, patting the spot behind her before fixing the blanket so it'll cover her when she lays back.
I walk over and sit behind her, ignoring the sounds of my knees popping.
"Shit, I forgot how much of an old man you are." She chuckles as she leans back then continues to talk to Logan as if I wasn't there.
I couldn't help but admire her as she laughs loudly and talks animatedly to Logan. She's so beautiful.
"That's what I'm saying!" She laughs.
"You're saying a lot right now. I don't know which way is left or down." Logan exclaims, making Karlie laugh harder.
"Hey, what happened to my dog?" Karlie asks, suddenly sitting up and looking at me.
"He's safe, the trainer has been taking care of him." I tell her, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.
"Gross, you can't be couple-ly around me." Logan whines.
"Sorry." Karlie laughs before standing.
Dropping the blanket around her, she opens the door and walks outside. I furrow my eyebrows as I watch her. It's still pouring down rain outside and she's just standing in it.
She giggles as Logan joins her.
"It's raining!" She shouts, raising her arms to touch the rain.
"Oh shit! It's cold!" Logan shivers before running inside and out of the living room. I'm guessing he's going to take a warm shower.
I turn my head back to Karlie to see her shimmying out of her pants before diving into the pool.
Her and this damn pool.
I stand, walking outside as Karlie floats on her back in the water. It reminds me of a couple days ago when she pulled that stunt.
I sigh before turning on the heater for the pool and grab some towels then removing my clothes to join her.
"Jaxon!" She squeals as I grab her waist.
"We've got to get some other hobbies then getting drunk then going swimming." I mumble in her ear.
"I'm not drunk, that was my first glass of wine and I didn't even finish it." She tells me, wrapping her legs around my waist.
"Okay, baby." I place my head into her neck. "How long do I have to wait until you're back in our bed?"
"I don't know, Jaxon."

'There was an attack on our main warehouse.'The moment those words came out of Kane's mouth was the moment I bolted out of the estate. The amount of people that go there everyday that could possibly be injured and I couldn't even stop thinking about the guy who brought his kid there one time.
Was the kid there? Was he there? Am I going to have to send back the body of the child's dead father? She wouldn't even understand what happen to him.
Pulling up at the scene, I barely put my car in park before I'm out of the car, running towards the large collapsed building.
There's a small crowd of people who have gotten injured but base off what I can see, they are the only survivors.
"What the fuck happened?" I bark.
"They had bombs set." Someone coughs.
"How many people were inside? Is this all that survived?" I ask, looking around the place.
"A few were taken to the hospital but the rest..." he trails off.
Who did this? Finn is dead, who else is there to accomplish this kind of thing. If it's someone from the Irish mafia, I'll fucking find them.
I knew I should've taken over before it was too late.
I swallow harshly. "Give me the list of people who have entered and left the warehouse in the last 24 hours then give me the list of survivors." I tell Kane.
I don't worry about the attackers right now, I'm going to have to plan their funerals and tell their families. I've always done this for the men and women who fought for my mafia. They deserve it.
Fuck. What am I going to do now?
