CLARKE

I remember reading about reincarnation back in the Ark. We used to learn some things about different religions that once existed on earth; Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism were a few of them.  Teachers used to talk to us about what those different religions consisted of, what they followers believed in and what their traditions were.

I remember that there was a class when we discussed whether or not we believed in God.

Half of the class did, and the other half didn't. I belonged to the group who actually believed in Him which was hard for my friends to understand because they used to think that there couldn't be a God when all of our ancestors were practically kicked out of earth, that if there was such thing as a father above us he wouldn't have let his creation to be destroyed by itself, he would've stop the war.

But the truth was that I thought God let the war happen so we could learn a lesson, and I think those last generations, including mine, did.

The reincarnation was part of what we used to learn about. The idea of the spirit finding a new body after the other died was a little too absurd for me to believe. I remember how Lexa one told me that they used to choose their leader by reincarnation, and then The Nero Tribe believed in it as well.

"You Clarke Griffin, are nothing but the reincarnation of our Goddess, Katia. So, you better prove yourself worthy".

It didn't make any sense. I was drowning in my thoughts waiting for an explanation. My legs were shaking and my hands sweating, I looked nervously at Damian whose eyes were placed on the ground and bravely I found my voice to speak.

"What do you mean?" was all I managed to say. Pathetic.

Amira was practically assuring I was some kind of reincarnated Goddess and I couldn't even ask a good question.

"What you heard", she answered me harshly.

"What are you – "

"Explain to her the whole thing, don't pretend she knows everything. Remember what you told me about the memory loss", Damian interrupted me before I could finish my question.

Amira smirked. "I know".

Memory loss? What were they talking about? Did they erase my memories? Why was Damian playing along that game if he told me he didn't believe in all the Gods crap? What if they kill—

"Clarke", Amira interrupted my thoughts. "Are you listening?"

"I am", I looked her in the eyes.

"Good. Now, listen carefully of what I'm going to tell you", she took a step closer to me.

I kept quiet waiting for her to speak. I didn't know why, but I was starting to doubt about whether I should have trust Damian or not. He seemed too calmed about everything.

"The Nero tribe has been living in these woods since before the war. Even hundreds of years before the world turned out to be... well, a disaster," she complained by waving her hands in the air. "Our people have survived every single obstacle they've been put through, since the very beginning."

Amira kept looking at me fiercely, as she was trying to decipher what was I thinking.

"We have survived all thanks to the water from the River that provides us health, energy, life. Without it we would all shut down and extinct from the face of the earth."
