Halo

Almost 2 weeks had passed since the whole thing with Caitlyn. I felt better, much better and i was learning much much quicker because of it. Kal'el was watching as i stalked a Hexapade, i stood on my  knees, brought the arrow back, and let go. The arrow went straight through the Hexapade, it didn't kill her but that meant i would have to deliver the final blow. I ran over, removed the arrow and took my knife from its holster.

I pulled back the gill like thing on the Hexapade neck as i rested my knee on it, and placed the knife at the opening. "I See you sister, and thank you. Your spirit goes with Eywa, your body stays behind to become part of the People." I said, as i jabbed the knife into the gill like thing, effectively killing it. Kal'el stood behind me, a look of approval on his face. "A clean kill, you are ready." He said, helping me get the Hexapade back to to hometree. He told his mom and dad about it, his dad kept looking at me with a look of proudness and utter approval. Na'li was looking at me with a look of love and proudness.

"Tomorrow you go with my father to receive to Ikran, im proud of you." He said, sitting down next to me. I smiled, and looked out at the forest. "Thank you Kal'el, you have been an amazing mentor." I replied, looking at him. He looked back and we entered into this staring match. The look he was giving me confused me a little, it was look of love and utter adoration. I didn't mind it, im sure i was looking at him the same way. "No need to thank me, you have done wonderfully as a student, soon enough you be one of the people. at that point you will be able to find a mate." He said looking kind of defeated, like he had just been rejected by a crush.

He looked down towards the ground and i just looked at the side of his head. "Well maybe it's a little too early to tell or make it official but... i think I've already found him. But this man must accept me as his mate." I said, looking at the surprised look on his face. Neither of us said a thing, just stared at each other. Never in my life did i think i would look at somebody the way Kal'el and I are looking at each other. Just by that look i could tell that he had also decided on his mate.

"Come, there is something i must show you." He said, standing up and taking off. I quickly got up and followed after him, soon enough we reached the Tree of Souls. "Kal'el, what are you doing?! I can not be here i am not one of the people yet!" I said, kind of panicked. He turned around and held his hand out to me. "Ma Halo, i need you to trust me... do you trust me?" He asked, holding his hand out to me. I hesitated for a moment, before nodding and taking his hand.

We walked through the tree of souls before we got to the base or the stem of the tree. "This is a place for prayers to heard, and sometimes answered... go on try it out." He said, motioning towards my queue. I grabbed it, looked at him for second before grabbing onto some of the glowing strings of the tree, and allowed the squirmy tendril things to attach to them. It was overwhelming, i heard voice of people who have passed, most of them were illegible but one stuck out. It was the only one i understood, it was Karl's voice.

He was laughing, things he said in the past all flooding into my brain at once. I smiled, looking up and smiled wider. "They live, within Eywa." He said, as i detached the queue fro the tree. I looked at him and smiled once again before speaking in a very confused voice. "Why have you brought me here? Isn't it an unwritten rule that outsiders are strictly forbidden within the Tree of Souls?" I aksed, looking at him for an answer.

"It's tradition that once you become one of the people, you're eligible to choose a mate. This person must also accept you as their mate." He said, stepping closer to me. It was silent for a little while after that. "Well I am neither, and how can i be sure if this man accepts me as his mate?" I asked, looking into his eyes as he stepped a little closer. "Because he already has," He said looking down at his queue and i did the same.

We both grabbed the end of our queues and held them closer to each other. The tendrils connected and i shivered, feeling as though our bodies just connected and became one with each other. We both knew what was happening was against the rules, probably even taboo but i don't think either of us cared. We kissed, it was soft, gentle, it made me feel safe. We had mated before Eywa... holy shit Halo what have you done?! Oh no you're gonna get in so much trouble for this!

(Several hours later)

We were both tired when we made it back to home tree, and of course who was waiting for us there? Mo'at, i mean she does interpret the will of Eywa so it made sense that she would know. Oddly enough Na'li and Sa'tari were also there, i couldn't read the look on either of their faces. We were brought to the spot where Jake and I ate the Teylu the first night we were here, and we were sat down.

"Im sure you both know that what you have done is very much against the rules, Halo is not a member of the clan, she is still an outsider." Mo'at said, sitting infront of us. We nodded, not trying to deny what we have done. Mo'at also nodded, she didn't seem upset but rather relieved? Which to me was more scary than upset. "While this is against the rules, there is nothing we can do but congratulate you two. You have mated before Eywa, you have become mated for life which means there is nothing more I can do here."

Mo'at stood up and left, leaving us only in the presence of Na'li and Sa'tari. Na'li smiled very widely and hugged me. A very tight yet comforting hug. "Oh how wonderful! I can't say in proud of you for mating before Halo has officially become part of the clan but i am still very excited for you two!" She said, her voice while holding a lot of excitement still held the very comforting tone to it.

"I agree, congratulations you two... You two seem so good together, i am happy for you both." Sa'tari said, walking away. One would take him for being upset, he was quite the opposite he was in fact happy. We went to this spot which originally was an open branch which had been used to weave this very strong twine like material. The two of us laid down, he held me and we both fell asleep in each others arms, this was by far the safest i had ever felt my entire life.
