Kahil's offer was very tempting to Harry. Although she hadn't had any thoughts about leaving the palace, she now did have a little desire, not to mention; the place Kahil was talking about was a school that only allowed the noble children to enter. She had heard tales about it being luxurious and very fairytale-like.
When Paula heard the news that Harry would be visiting the academy for the day, she wanted to make her look her best. Harry didn't mind because she wanted to look good for all the esteemed students she might see there.
"I'm so nervous!" she said excitedly. "I've been to the training ground before, but his highness wants to go to the academy's training grounds." She swung her legs and tunefully moved her head from side to side.
Paula sighed, "Princess, I know you're excited, but can you please be still? I can't fix your hair properly."
Harry instantly became still. "I'm sorry, Paula," she replied apologetically. "But I'm just so excited!"
"Yeah, I know," Paula sighed. "I hope you have a wonderful time."
"Me too."
Paula finished fixing Harry's hair. "Ta-da!" she exclaimed. "I think it suits you nicely, but what do you think?"
Harry examined it closely in the mirror. Paula chose a braided half-up and half-down style.
"Yes, it's very lovely," she answered. She turned her head from side to side to look at all the details. "Paula, you are a professional!"
Paula blushed and laughed, "Well, I wouldn't say that."
"But it is true! Paula, you are very talented! You just have to believe in yourself more!"
Paula became even more flustered, "Alright, alright, that's enough praise for one day. Now, Princess, please hurry on your way; I'm sure His Highness is waiting for you."
Harry gasped, "You're right!"
She twirled around in her purple dress. "I mustn't keep His Highness waiting that would be quite rude of me." She smiled at Paula and said sweetly, "Goodbye, Paula!"
Paula smiled too and waved. "Mhm, see you later, Princess."
Harry hurried down the stairs; she could see Kahil; he had been waiting for her. When he noticed her coming, she stopped in the middle of the stairs and said the royal greeting.
"Yeah," Kahil responded nonchalantly. He took notice of her manners.
"I'm sorry that I kept you waiting," she said.
"I didn't wait that long," he replied.
"But still, I-"
"It's fine; let's go."
"O-okay."
She followed him outside to see an even more luxurious carriage than the one she had ridden in with the first princess and her mother. She worried about getting into a carriage with another royal child. Would she be talked to badly again? Was the crown prince secretly just like his sister? Those were the kind of thoughts that circled around in her head.
"What's wrong?" Kahil asked. "Do you not like carriages?"
"Eh . . . no, it's not that I don't like them, but . . . " Her words trailed off as she watched Kahil open the carriage's door.
He looked at her and said, "Then, go ahead." He gestured at her to get in.
She looked inside nervously; she could tell that she was upsetting him. She looked over at him before going in.
Once she was settled in, Kahil entered and shut the door. She was surprised to see a royal being so independent. A few seconds later, the carriage started moving.
"Um," Harry said in a quiet and unsure tone. "I'm very excited to see the training grounds . . . the academy . . . it's the school you go to, isn't it?"
"Yes," Kahil answered.
Harry was shocked; she only half expected him to answer her.
"I thought so," she replied.
"It's an all-boys school, though," said Kahil nonchalantly.
"Oh . . . I see," Harry replied.
She didn't know that the school was only for boys, but even if it wasn't, she wouldn't have been able to go anyway. She hadn't been able to go to a fancy private school, but she was still able to learn a lot of things from her mother and occasionally some of the other ladies in the village. Harry tried to remember her manners as she prepared to meet a bunch of nobles and boys at that.
"I'm still excited to be going to a school," Harry said. "An all-boys school or not."
"Are you?" Kahil asked.
"Yes!" Harry answered energetically.
He laughed and replied, "I see."
Harry simply smiled as she wondered what was so funny about what she had said. A little while later, they arrived at an enormous castle-like building. The building itself was gray, but the roof was a very dark blue.
"Wow!" Harry gasped. "It's so big!"
"Yep," Kahil replied.
Once the carriage came to a stop, Kahil opened the door and helped Harry out of it. He watched as she stood in awe and welcomed her to her first school.
