I wanted to just walk past them.. I was nowhere near the mental state required to deal with them. Especially given the anger I still felt toward them. "Akito..! Is Toya alright..?" Kohane ran up to me, dragging An with her hand, to An's embarrassment. I turned my back to them, preparing to walk away, but Toya's dad pulled up in front of me to my dismay. "Akito, by boy! You still have yet to show me that singing thing again." He said adjusting his tie, getting out of his radio-less limousine. He didn't seem to notice his son passed out on my back."Woah! Hey Mr. Aoyagi!" Kohane exclaimed, shyly waving her hand and cowering behind An. Seems like they made up. Thank goodness... Wait what am I thinking!? I could care less... An looked on guard, recalling that Toya had 'daddy issues'. "Excuse me I need to get through..." I said with a forced smile, but I couldn't hide the twitching of my eyebrow. I needed to get Toya to a bed, and it was kind of uncomfortable to carry someone taller than me, especially Toya.. His face was so close to mine..
"Wait..! We have to talk to you!" An said, her body shaking. I stopped. "I need some time to get over stuff, I don't care what you wanna say anyway.." I muttered before walking away. An seemed frustrated by my lack of interest in listening to her. "Come on! What about me? I need to talk to you as well!" Toya's father said putting his hand on my shoulder. Before I could say anything Ena and the guy me and Toya saved the other day came over to where we were. "Akito! You didn't tell me you were a miracle worker!" Ena Exclaimed shaking the poor guy back and forth.
"Yeah I tried to find where you were in an effort to..." The man cut himself off at the sight of Toya's dad. "Woah! Who's this rich old dude, and is that the guy you liked!?" Ena yelled.. A little too loud for my liking, making me blush and grabbing An and Kohane's attention. "Wha.." Kohane could only be surprised, while An started laughing. "No way!!" she uttered. Then emerging from behind a building was the detective. "So, this is where you are, picking on children!" He pointed at Toya's father. "You're under arrest!" Everyone was shocked.
"Woah! easy there buddy!" Toya's father said walking backwards onto his car. Before I knew it I was surrounded with nowhere to run. It felt like the world was spinning, Toya was about to loose his father, and therefore ruining his reputation at school, and shattering his happiness. Not only that but everyone here would have to be investigated, and the person that I had helped would be put in jail as well, due to their past actions. His chance to start over would be ruined. Not to mention how Ena's trust in me would diminish severely, and she would feel betrayed that I would be around such individuals despite my promises of safety. I didn't know what to do.. Everything was overwhelming and I felt my legs wobble.
I felt my stomach sink as the detective hand cuffed Toya's father. It was over... Back to sitting back in a grayscale room thinking of how things used to be. This damned detective.. "Stop.." I heard a familiar voice. Toya was awake..! He glared at the detective as he stood up off of my back. "Are you questioning a certified officer?" The detective inquired as he pulled out his badge. "Toya, boy! Tell him that this is just a misunderstanding..!" His father yelled. His father's lack of regard for his own son disgusted me, and it seemed that An had picked up on this as well by looking at her expression.
"I remember everything..." Toya said, keeping eye contact with the detective. He walked up to the detective and attacked him, to everyone's shock. "Toya..! You can't just..!" I was terrified to loose him. I mean, he finally got his memories back and he was now going to have to serve a mighty sentence for harming an officer. "There is no warrant for my father's arrest." Toya began, Looking at the 'detective' squirm on the floor. Toya picked up his badge. "And your badge is clearly faulty, just look at the way it doesn't shine, this is most indefinitely plastic, not the metal that the police office distributes." Everyone looked at Toya in surprise.
"If you're a fraud.. Where's the real detective?" I asked furrowing my brows while walking over to Toya's side. An came over and undid Toya's dad's handcuffs with a hair pin, and Kohane stayed close by her side."Don't get confident with yourself just yet." An whispered into his ear, causing him to flea the scene. Ena and the guy from earlier walked over to us. "Oh thank god, I was worried you broke your promise.." Ena said walking to my side. Toya looked at her confused, but said nothing.
Clapping could be heard in the distance, everyone turned their heads to the source. "Haha! Seemed like you guys saw through my little test." The actual detective walked in, helping the fraud up. "However you let him get away... Turns out there is..." He looked at me and Ena, "You.. Aren't you that troublemaker that keeps running away from home? What are you dragging all of these people in this too? Should I be concerned?" He asked rubbing his chin. I was just thankful he didn't finish that sentence, as he would've let Ena know he did indeed have a warrant for his arrest. The detective wrote down something in his notebook as he got in his car with the fraud.
I began to worry as the detective drove away to chase Toya's father. What would become of Toya if his father was caught? Toya put his hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry about a thing, partner." He said reassuringly. I looked away. "Of course I'm going to be worried about chya' idiot!" I said hitting his head lightly with my fist. "Okay love birds we get it!" Ena said teasingly, crossing her arms as An chuckled.
"Guys, shouldn't we help the detective catch him?" Kohane asked, to my disarray. "We can't just-" I began, only to be cut off. "It's okay, she's completely correct." Toya turned toward Ena, getting a grasp that she was being a bit overprotective. He explained everything to her, and tried to reason with her. "No... No you will not! Akito you can't hang out with these people anymore! I thought things were different... I can't go through this again!" Ena cried as she grabbed my arm. Toya, Kohane, and An all looked concerned.
"Wait..!" The guy that we had saved during the event at Toya's house. Ena paused. "What!?" She said harshly, almost choking on the tears in her numb eyes. "Uhm... Ena, Right? It seems that you're understanding your, uh, younger brother here..." He said twiddling his thumbs. She looked at him with disbelief. "And why should I trust him!?" She retorted, full of anger and misunderstanding. I just looked away. I didn't have a say in the matter.
Toya grabbed my arm. "He's right y'know. Akito clearly doesn't want to go back home with you." Ena was petrified at Toya's wording, her seemingly emotionless eyes widened. "What do you know about Akito!?" She said tugging back on my other arm, causing discomfort. "He seems to know more than you..!" Kohane walked over to behind Toya, soon followed by An, "Yeah, it seems like you just want to force him to stay under your wing."
I appreciated them standing up for me, but I also understood how Ena felt. I didn't want her to suffer alone. "He's clearly capable of deciding for himself..! I underestimated him when I first met him due to his age, however he went on to overcome my expectations and save my life despite the circumstances and risks that had surrounded him!" The guy stood behind An, creating a line of people standing behind me.. And no one behind Ena.
"Fine..! If that's what you want so bad.. Akito! Decide for yourself self! Who are you going to choose!?" Ena said in a fit of rage, pushing me. I felt torn between sides.
