chapter 3.

kie sits is her room after taking a shower and getting changed into some more comfortable clothes, when she hears voices downstairs. she furrows her eyebrows as she listens more carefully. unfortunately, the best she can hear is a few odd words since she is so far away. she puts her phone down as she stands up and goes to go downstairs. as she leaves her bedroom door, her phone rings on her bed. she walks down the hall as she listens in. as her phone stops ringing, she gets several notifications.

jj: missed call
jj: i need to talk to u

without knowing her phone was going off in her room, kie walks down the stairs until she sees who is in her house. she first sees sophie, her dad's girlfriend, drinking a glass of wine at the kitchen counter. then she sees her dad sat at the counter, twiddling his thumbs in his hand. then she sees two men, and a woman in uniform, which consists of a grey polo shirt, a blue jacket and black pants. she reaches the bottom of the stairs and stands on a certain floorboard, making a noise, causing everyone to look her way.

"kie" mike says, standing up.

"what's going on?" she says, walking towards them.

"kie... you need to remain calm, okay?" mike says.

kie furrows her eyebrows as she looks at her father, then at sophie, who has a sympathetic look on her face. then at the two men and the woman. as she does this, she notices something that she didn't see before. a logo, on the jacket. "blue ridge". her face drops as realisation hits her.

"kie, this isn't forever okay? i'm just worried about you. you've been so cut off from the world since the accident and the break up with jj and whenever i try to talk to you, you shut me out. this is a last resort, i'm just trying to do what's best for you" mike says as the two men approach kie.

she shakes her head. "no..."

"it's just gonna be some time to reflect, okay?" mike says.

"i can reflect here! at home!" kie says.

"kie, it's gonna be okay" sophie says as the men wrap their hands around her arms.

"no.. get off" she tries to shake them off but it doesn't work. "dad. please don't do this" she says.

"i'm sorry" mike says.

they begin to drag her towards the door. she tries to resist but it's no use. the woman follows behind them, then her dad and sophie.

"dad! please!" she cries.

the woman walks past them as they drag her down the porch.

"kie, stay calm. this isn't for long" mike says.

"dad! what the hell!?" she shouts as she tries to push them off again. their grip gets firm around her arms and she yelps in pain. "ow!" she says, smacking one of their hands.

"hey! you're hurting her, take it easy!" sophie shouts.

"dad! please, come on!" kie says as the woman opens the car door. "where is this coming from!? dad!" she shouts as they throw her in the car.

she squirms around to sit up on the seat as they close the car door. she bangs on the glass as she stares at her dad in disbelief.

"please!" she cries.

he pinches the top of his nose with his fingers as the people get in the car.

"no, no no! dad! sophie! no!" she shouts as the bangs on the glass with more force. "you can't do this to me!"

"mike, maybe this isn't the best choice" sophie says as she turns to mike.

"sophie, we talked about this. this is all we have left" he says as she car begins to drive off.

"no, there's lots more options. therapy that doesn't involve her being locked in a room for the next few months?" she says.

"please!" kie shouts one last time as the car drives off.

"hey kie, i know it's been like, 2 months since that voicemail and i like broke your heart but i love you too" jj says to himself as he taps the steering wheel, parked outside her house. "no. no.." he shakes his head and pinches the top of his nose. he takes another deep breathe. "hey kie. i know it's been 2 months since that shit went down and your feelings have probably changed, but i love you too and i'm sorry for everything" he says. "okay... that's progress" he nods. he gets out of the car and walks towards her house. the sun is just setting, but it isn't dark yet. it's about 9.

"jj?" mike says as he opens the door.

"yeah, hi, sorry to bother. i'm just wondering if kie's here" he says.

"uh... she's actually not." mike says.

"oh, do you know where she is?" jj says. "i really need to speak to her"

'"no, you can't. her mental health has been so bad lately and she's been totally cut off from the world because of you. you should stay away from her" mike says before storming away from the door.

jj stands there in shock as mike storms up the stairs. sophie sighs and walks out of the door, towards jj.

"sorry, about that" she says. she closes the door behind her and walks towards the seat on the porch. jj follows her and sits at the other end of the seat.

"i don't think we've met, i'm sophie. i'm mike's girlfriend" she says.

he smiles. "jj, kie's... well.. ex?" he says.

"i know who you are. kie's spoke about you quite a lot. he wasn't lying when he said she's not here, she's not, and she's not gonna be for a few months" she says.

"what!?" he says.

"she's been sent away. to a camp, called blue ridge. i tried to talk him out of it but he was convinced this is the only way. the camp is a few hours away. she's not allowed any from of technology and she's not allowed to see anyone other than family for the first month" she says.

"what the hell?" he says.

"he says she's been cut off for the world since the accident and the break up between you two and now she's not talking to anyone about her feelings. doesn't mean he should send her away though... i don't know what's going on with him. he's been spiralling the past few weeks" she says.

"this is all my fault" he says.

"no... it's not. don't listen to mike, okay? i'm gonna try my best to get kie out but i don't have any control here so it's not gonna be easy" she says.

he sighs and nods. "thankyou" he says, standing up.

she smiles and nods, then he walks down the porch and back to sarah's car.
