chapter 16.

"can kiara carrera please report to the principles office? that's kiara carrera to the principles office"

everyone turns and looks at kie who's sat at the back of the classroom.

"you heard the announcement, miss carrera" the teacher says.

kie clears her throat as she nods and stands up, throwing her book in her bag.

she looks at sarah who gives her a questioning look. she shrugs her shoulders as she walks over to the door. as she walks past she accidentally catches jj's eyes, but looks away. the whole freya and rafe incident happened only yesterday and she still hasn't spoke to him since. they haven't broke up, they're just not on good terms.

she walks down the corridor, knocks on the office door and walks in.

"miss carrera, please take a seat" he says.

she walks towards the desk and sits down in the chair in front of it.

"so, as you know, your graduation is coming up in a few weeks" he says.

"yeah" she says.

"and, i was hoping that you would make a speech. i know this year has been rather hard for you and i think you'd be the perfect person to wrap the year, and your time at this school, up" he says, linking his hands together on the desk.

"uhm, okay.. sure. what do you want me to talk about?" she says, shuffling in her seat slightly.

"about how you've gotten through this year, and how everyone, including yourself is gonna be okay. you know, you've grown up with these people. you've known these people for years. now, you aren't gonna be with most of them anymore" he says.

she nods. "okay, i think i can do that" she nods.

"if you don't want to, you don't have to. but i think it'll be good for you to" he says.

she nods. "is that it?"

"yes, you may return to your class" he says.

she stands up and walks towards the door.

"oh and kiara" he adds.

she turns to look at him with her hand on the door handle.

"i hope you're doing okay. you're an incredibly strong girl"

she smiles and nods. "thankyou" she says as she opens the door.

"freya is here" charlie says through the phone.

"what?" kie and sarah say at the same time as they finish their food at the wreck. "again!?" sarah says.

"yeah" charlie says.

"fuck it. we're going down there. i've had enough of her" kie says.

"yes! i've been waiting for this" charlie says.

"waiting for what?" kie says.

"you finally letting the anger out, kie. you've been holding it in for way too long now" charlie says.

"we're on our way, see you soon" sarah says, hanging up the phone as her and kie walk out of the door.

charlie walks back over to the boys sat round the campfire.

"kie and sarah are on their way" he says.

"wait, actually?" jj says.

"yeah" charlie says.

"and they know freya's here?" pope says.

"yeah..." charlie says.

"oh god, i'm gonna go warn her not to start anything" jj says, standing up.

he walks over to the door and walks inside, where freya is in the fridge.

"hey, so.. kie and sarah are on their way here. so, please... just don't start anything. you've already caused enough shit between us" jj says.

she chuckles as she stands up and closes the fridge door. she leans against it and looks at him.

"what if i do?" she says.

"freya, seriously" he says.

"ohh, you used to love it when i started shit with kooks" she opens her can of beer.

"yeah, used to. things have changed, freya. i'm dating one, well... she's kinda a kook, half and half, and my sister is one. and my other sister and brother to be honest. things have changed a lot since you left" jj says.

they hear a car pull up outside. "that's them. remember what i said. do not start anything, i'm serious" he says as footsteps lead up to the porch.

with no warning at all, freya walks over to him and forcefully presses her lips to his. at the same time, kie walks through the door. she freezes. jj steps back and furrows his eyebrows at her.

"what the fuck!?" sarah shouts.

they both turn and look at her. jj's eyes meet kie's. they're full of hurt, full of betrayal.

"no- kie-" he says, but she turns around, pushing through sarah and charlie.

he follows her, running down the porch steps. "kie, please just let me explain!"

"explain what!? that you kissed her!? i have eyes, jj!" she shouts as tears stream down her face. 

"no- it wasn't like that" he says.

"fuck off. you said you'd change! you promised me! you're a liar! you got bored and went back to your old ways. we're done" she says.

"no- kie, please" he says as his eyes fill with tears. "i love you"

she shakes her head. "if you loved me, you wouldn't have put yourself in a position to lose me" she says as she turns and walks away.

meanwhile, inside the chateau..

"what the actual fuck?" sarah says to freya.

"oh, guess he got bored of his fill in and went back to the real deal" she says.

"what the fuck is wrong with you!?" sarah shouts.

"o-kay" freya says.

"you like messing people around? we've been completely fine and then you rock up and everything's ruined!? do you have any idea what you just did!? you just ruined a perfect and strong relationship for what? because you're jealous!?" sarah shouts. "they've been through so fucking much but you just- you just add to it!?"

"oh god, you're so dramatic" freya rolls her eyes.

sarah looks at charlie and chuckles before going to swing for her.

"no no no" john b says, grabbing sarah and pulling her back.

freya stays where she is with her arms folded while sarah runs out of the chateau to find kie.

she passes jj who is stood in the middle of the grass crying. she purposely nudges his shoulder as she walks past, running after kie who is walking a few steps ahead.

jj stands emotionless. how did he let this happen?
