PERRIE'S POV
The tunnel was really dark and cramped. The only thing that was stopping me from losing my mind to the terror I felt at the moment of going into the unknown was the sound of Jesy's voice trying to calm Leigh-Anne down. Leigh-Anne was apparently very claustrophobic and it's easy to tell by the way she was breathing -more like panting actually -deeply and quickly in front of me.
We had gone in with Jesy first holding Leigh-Anne's flashlight then Leigh-Anne, me and Jade respectively. Jade had her light off so we could save the battery power.
"You okay Leigh? Just keep breathing. Deep, slow breaths . . . in and out . . . in and out . . ." Jesy was saying as we kept moving forward.
I didn't hear a reply from Leigh-Anne but I assumed she was fine as she kept going and I could hear her breathing slowing. I wished I could do something to help her like hold her hand or something but our current position wouldn't allow it.
I could hear Jade humming a tune to herself from behind me. She was so cute even though she was a bit older than I was.
If I was in here alone I'm pretty sure I'd die of a panic attack. I felt like we'd been crawling forever. The ground was damp and a little squishy. It kind of felt like hard mud under my knees and hands. I imagined it to be hotter and a little stuffy but there was some cool air coming in from wherever it ended.
"Darn it!" Jesy spat loudly as I found myself knocking into Leigh-Anne.
"Why are we stopping?" Jade mumbled as she bumped into me.
"Guys . . ." Jesy called to the rest of us, "I think we hit a dead end!"
"Oh no." Leigh-Anne moaned, "Are you sure Jesy?"
She sounded like she was going to hyperventilate.
"Leigh-Anne, babe, breath slowly." I said trying to soothe her. After all she was really sweet when I thought I was dying and she was trying to help.
"Erm . . . Why don't we check the sides or the top for another tunnel or some way out?" Jade said.
"Sounds like a plan." Jesy replied. "I hope we didn't miss an important turn or something too far back."
We all started feeling the walls at the sides of the tunnel and when that failed we felt at the roof. When I put my hands above my head I felt something strange. It didn't feel like rock wall like the rest of the place but instead like a gate or something. My fingers could slip through and for a moment I imagined myself in a jail cell. That's what it felt like, a bar for a cell. There also seemed to be cool air coming from it. And I realized that's where the chilled air was coming from.
"Guys I think there's something here." I squealed excited.
