PERRIE’S POV
Yumm! I was chomping on some berries I found on a bush. I had found the most important thing; food!
These people where clearly crazy sending me down without having breakfast first. I was lucky to find this bush. God knows that I can’t stay without food for long. As I continued munching I wondered about these other contestants. I’d woken up a few hours ago now and I hadn’t seen any sign of human life yet. I wondered how many contestants there were. This must have been a huge place for me not to have encountered anyone. But then again like I said it’d only been a few hours and I hadn’t walked that far from where I woke up.
JADE’S POV
There was this once when I had taken a survival class in secondary school just for fun. I never thought it would come in handy, but now I’m really happy I did it. Some of the berries here were actually quite poisonous and I recognized them from a book I read.
LEIGH-ANNE’S POV
There were really weird fruits on the bushes here. Some of them had sort of sharp-edged leaves while others were smooth. I was not sure why I thought so but something told me that the sharp ones were no good for eating. I think it was my older sister Sarah who told me this. She was always into nature and stuff like that. My thing was animals. . .
JESY’S POV
My head spun with numerous flashes of the girls going through several gruesome deaths. There were knives and daggers and blood and screaming and crying. I could hardly go two steps without suddenly waking up on the ground with a headache from hitting my head somewhere.
What the hell is going on? How am I supposed to survive if I can hardly stay out of my head enough to find food? Relax, Jesy, you can do this.
When I could finally see again I started moving hoping to find some form of food. So far all I could see were these strange looking plants and I was not sure if they were safe to eat so I left them alone.
PERRIE’S POV
I had basically lazed around for the whole day stuffing my face with different types of berries. This whole surviving thing was not that hard. As the sun started going down I was trying to figure out where would be best to sleep. The weather seemed warm for now but who knew what would come with evening.
I was in the process of getting up from my resting position near a tree when I heard a sound. It was like a leaf being crushed under someone’s boot. I froze. The sound shouldn’t have scared me so much but there was something ominous about it.
The next thing I knew though I heard breathing from behind me. I jumped to my feet and turned around suddenly seeing a silhouette of what looked like a man. I shrieked and took a step back. The man came closer and with the bit of lingering sunlight I saw that it wasn’t a man at all.
It was a creepy looking creature which was shaped like a man but with skin that looked like black wool and silver metal shoulder and chest pads. Its face was a bit mousy and it had eyes that weren’t really eyes. They were just these yellow orbs that glowed when I looked into them. It had weapons in each hand that looked like guns but had electricity sparkling from the tips.
I was frozen for a moment as I looked at it but then my wits returned and I screamed.
