Sethan:

Aiden and Daryl had gone and failed to check in. Had Daryl gone alone, we would've thought that was normal but we planned against that and sent Aiden for good reason, and yet they hadn't called... My father decided to go after Aiden and Daryl because other packs we hadn't visited had already voiced that sending less than the second in rank was disrespectful.

I spun myself in the chair and killed the thought that threatened to form. My father would be there soon and deal with that. There was no use dwelling especially since my father banned me from going anywhere until I'm healed and calm, whatever that means. The rest of the pack had moved onto discussing the witch killing of the fae who'd attacked us in our own home. I listened and the consensus was that the witch was working for the fae as per usual. She wasn't on our side because obviously the whole, I healed your enforcer bit, was a ploy to get on our good side. Her main goal was to do as the fae Queen must've ordered her to, kill the dumb fae who attacked and prevent the war.

I closed my eyes shut against my wolf who was itching towards disagreeing with them and spun once more with a push of my foot. I dove forward and barely caught myself with one arm as my father grabbed my chair mid-spin. I winced and let out the growl I've been holding in this entire meeting.

"Sethan Gustave Knowles, care to share with the pack why you've been groaning to yourself like a love stung teenager?"

I looked up at my father with wide open eyes. Love stung, my brain repeated. With a witch? My dad was nuts. Why was he insisting on this interspecies thing? He'd felt a so called bond that had opened up between the witch and I, and had bombarded me with questions about her being my mate when I woke up. I clicked my tongue. My father had no idea what the witch might or might not have done to me when I'd laid weak on that table.

Had I known the fae's claws were poisonous, I would've been more careful. Since I couldn't kill him due to the threat of war, I'd been a bit more careless than usual hoping that I could walk away with proof of the attack to take the fae Queen down a notch. Now that I thought about it, it'd been a dumb idea, especially since the witch had gotten a front row seat to me gritting in pain.

My eyes naturally flickered to Adonis, the only other wolf who was moving, or rather, had the nerve to laugh at me as the chair had reopened my stitches. The others sat frozen but I could taste their excitement as clear as day.

Unlike the others, my dad rarely scolded me in front of the pack, keywords, in front.  No matter how pissed he was, he always managed to restrain himself until we were in private.

I wondered how well my dad could feel Kaitlin but didn't think it was the right time to ask. I ignored Jared who kept wiggling his eyes trying to catch my attention, stood up and glared at my dad.

"It's not like you are letting me go bring those idiots back." I said through my pain as I stood up. "Why am I here?" I snapped.

I understood I hadn't been the smartest but I'd managed to save Javier and Jared who'd both got away scratch thus death free. Kaitlin's face flashed in my mind as soon as my pain began to subside. I held in a growl. I couldn't believe my father had let a witch touch me, much less give me her blood.

"Had you taken better care of yourself I wouldn't have put you on house duty." my father bit back as he studied my face. He had a feeling that being forced to stay out of this plan wasn't what was eating at me and he was right. I'd lied when I told him she wasn't my mate. She was my mate-no, I shook my head. It felt like she was, I corrected myself.

That rumoured pull was there so strongly that my wolf noticed right away.

My father had filled me in on the events I'd been unconscious for. He hadn't left out the part where the witch had given me some of her blood. She could've very well established the bond with it and thus the one we were trying to keep on lock right now was a fake one. If that was, had I been previously sexually pent up when I'd seen her first?
