Gabriel:

I decided to fly coach rather than economy because coach was stuffy enough. My wolf didn't like planes and to be fully honest, we both preferred the ground or at least we prefer to be the ones piloting. I couldn't take the jet. It was too risky. According to the Alpha of the Emerald pack, Daryl and Aiden never landed which made utterly no sense. They'd might slack off or get distracted but they'd never fail to check in after this long.

If the Alpha was indeed involved, he'd never expect me to fly commercial. I'd be able to catch them off guard and confirm for myself if Daryl and Aiden landed or not. There had been no report of a crash that matched the description of our jet leading me to believe they had landed safely somewhere, likely on the Emerald pack territory. Daryl and Aiden's bonds both told me they were alive but I couldn't feel much else.

If this was a part of a betrayal or trap from Leonard, the Alpha, I rather find out and deal with it myself. I refused help from the pack because I had a faint suspicion of what was going on. It had been the main reason I hadn't want to send my son here. He wouldn't hesitate to go on a witch killing spree at all.

Leonard was the only Alpha within my territory who was turned instead of born werewolf. It'd happened during the first war and although controlling their wolves is harder for changed werewolves, Leonard had gotten a good grasp over his wolf and dedicated himself to protect his kind along with all others who were weaker. He was also similar to me in regards that he believed we could establish real peace with the witches. After all, witches weren't born dark but chose or was forced to succumb to the dark side of who they were. A lot of werewolves still refused to see it, but like a few other supernatural creatures, witches were similar to us werewolves.

Before Daryl and Aiden left I had warned them that Leonard had chosen to recruit a coven and was under tentative renegotiation with the Marrok who disapproved of Leonard's decision. According to him sharing borders was one thing, cohabitation was another. I was somewhere in between. I didn't know that coven but I'd seen what witches were capable of. I didn't blame the Marrok for considering to drop the Emerald pack from his protection.

My son had been wrong to trust Leanta, the witch who had preyed on his protective instincts only to try to kill him while he slept. It had been the reason I myself originally laughed at Leonard when he shared with me his plans. I'd also cautioned him by telling him of my past exchanges with witches. Later and at around the same time Kaitlin petitioned me for sanctuary, Leonard had approached me again to share how well things were going with the coven.

I glanced at the ring Kaitlin had agreed to make for me and keep quiet in exchange for her stay.

The ring would mask what I was when I landed and allow me to pull on pack magic to change my my appearance. Leonard and the others who knew me won't be able to recognize who I was unless I truly gave it away.

I wondered about such possible trinkets since the witches agreed to create bracelets both to counter their mind manipulation and allow us to change into clothes after shifting. The latter they charged us for. I'd been surprised when Kaitlin agreed to my condition and hadn't tried to pretend that such a trinket, that could hid my identity, wasn't possible to create in effort to fool me and keep me with less power.

It was thanks to her I didn't have have to risk any more of my wolves. I'd be able to get to the bottom of this and likely rescue Aiden and Daryl.

My meeting Kaitlin, a witch who was even more headstrong than my own son, had been the reason why I had changed my mind and wished Leonard the best in his endeavours with the coven he'd scouted. She was also the reason I was hoping Aiden and Daryl had drank some magic Kool-Aid and hijacked the plane to Bahamas for an improv vacation at the cost of their necks.
