A royal scandal.
Something the reporters would say the moment they would find out about everything. About all the nights that I went out, including the one with Lewis. Or the fact that I would be betrothed to another, while I was dating the one I wanted.
The thoughts crossed my mind like a winterstorm in december. It was hard and painful. Just like the truth. And from the moment we stepped in the car to go back to the hotel, I couldn't help but panic about the upcoming storm. I finally found a happy moment again, a moment where camera's weren't pointed at me. It felt so perfect, but now that I was sitting here, in the car with Lewis, I couldn't help but think about all the hatred I would get. From my dad, my family. My country. They want me to marry Duke Williams. But all I want is to feel alive,
in love,
free.
And that's a dream that I can't make true.
I got ripped out of my thoughts when my hand got squeezed. "We're back, Jude." Lewis's voice soothed my thoughts and I immediately thought back about everything that happened the last few hours, forgetting the camera's and the pressure of carrying a country. We drove into the underground garage and immediately went to the elevator, so that no one would see us and suspect anything. Liam was so sweet to discard all the picnic stuff, so that we had a moment left for ourselves.
I turned to Lewis and wrapped my arms around his neck. "I loved it..." I stood on my toes and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
In response he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into an embrace. "I loved it too." He gave me a cheeky smile and I couldn't help the blush forming on my cheeks.
"Holy. Shit." We jumped up and pulled away from each other as we heard the voice coming from the lobby. We didn't notice the elevator stopping and now we were caught.
"I knew the date was a good idea, I deserve a huge thank you!" Carlos walked in and slapped Lewis on the back. He grinned wide at us and I could see the amusement in his eyes.
"God, man you really made me scared for a second. I thought we were caught by some paparazzi." Lewis chuckled and patted Carlos on the back. "Thanks for everything, mate."
"No problem, Isa helped also, she loved the idea." Carlos looked at me and I hugged him.
"Thanks, Carlos, it was a night to never forget." I stepped back and smiled at him. He winked back and it wasn't a flirty kind of wink. "Where is Isa actually?"
"She's in our room. It's pretty late and I just got back from some drinks with the boys. And yes no alcohol before you get mad." And he was right, because I would be mad if he drank before a race.
"I've known you for 2 days, but when I tell you that I care about your wellbeing, you should care." I looked up at him angrily.
"Yes, madam," he joked and I couldn't keep the angry face anymore.
"This is our floor, Jude. Shall we go?" Lewis said and I said goodbye to Carlos. We walked to my room, passing Lewis's along the way.
"Always the gentleman, hm? Taking me home." I leaned against the wall next to my door.
"Well it isn't really your home, now. But yes, I will always bring you home." He leaned down and kissed my cheek. A tingling feeling spread through my cheek as his lips touched it.
