Welcome to my hometown. It's not where I belong.
---Suppose I've always been a bit of a doormat
I think I got it from my parents
My own hometown doesn't feel like home
The people are cliquey and leave me to stare at my phone
And they wonder why I'm not social
They're always leaving me aloneSuppose I'm the gum on the sidewalk
Tossed aside, past used, just kinda there
At least in this city I am
People have appreciated me here
Few love me truly
But most have left me alone
And they wonder why their old friend's not social
They're always leaving me aloneSuppose I'm a bird in the off season
Set here for starters but able to move on
I've almost got my wings grown in
I'm close to making the whole world my home
And they in the old town will not ask why I left them alone
They wondered why I wasn't social
They shut me out and I'm finally going to leave them alone
