Chapter 8: John Doe
Alan
Alan went to Boston to investigate a man who had been in a coma. Alan was in the Boston hospital. Alan saw a doctor walking towards him.
"Hello, I am Dr. Kevin Ross. I am glad you have come," Dr. Ross replied.
Dr. Ross escorted Alan to the patient's room.
"The police found my patient badly beaten in the middle of the road." My patient has been in a coma for a year. This man has no identification," Dr. Ross explained.
Alan looked at the person and he realized it was Steve Brooks.
"I believe I know the identity of this man. I believe his name is Steve Brooks. Steve's sister has reported him missing," Alan explained.
"I am glad to know the identity of this man," Dr. Ross replied.
"But I'm not entirely sure if this man is Steve Brooks." Alan quickly jumped in with a suggestion, "I suggest that we call his sister Laura Jackson and ask her to positively identify him."
Without hesitation, Alan dialed Laura's number and explained the situation, "Laura, I found a man in a hospital in Boston who looks like your brother. The man has been in a coma for approximately one year. You need to come and identify him."
Laura's response was immediate, "I will be on the first plane."
Laura called Jackie. "Alan found a man who looks like Steve at a hospital in Boston. The man has been in a coma. "He asked me to come to Boston to identify him," Laura explained.
"I want to come with you. I will meet you at the airport," Jackie replied.
Jackie rushes to get packed and drops off her kids Sara and Andy, at her cousin's house who agreed to watch them. Jackie was relieved that they found Steve, but her heart belonged to Jack. Jackie met Laura at the airport. Upon their arrival in Boston, they hurried to the hospital.
Alan met them at the waiting area.
"I am not certain if this person is Steve because I have never met him. I only saw Steve's pictures," Alan explained.
Dr. Ross took them to the man's room. Laura and Jackie looked at the man and they knew he was Steve.
"This man is my brother Steve. What happened to him?" Laura asks.
"The police found him badly beaten on the road." The police thought he might have been robbed," Dr. Ross explained.
"Is he going to be okay?" Laura asks.
"I don't know." I do think he will recover, but his condition is subject to change. I also do not know how long he will remain in a coma," Dr. Ross replied.
Jackie called Jack and she told him that Steve was alive. She told Jack that Steve is in a coma from a beating and the police do not know who had beaten him. Alan called Martin to ask him for his help. Martin informed him that he would arrive tomorrow. April was also coming to help. Alan needed to know which case Steve was working on because he believed that whatever case Steve was working on might have almost gotten him killed.
Jackie and Laura were completely in the dark about the case that Steve was handling. Steve was always tight-lipped about his cases, never divulging any information to anyone. Jackie couldn't help but wish she had some idea of what Steve was working on before he disappeared. Unfortunately, Alan's psychic ability was of no use in this situation since Steve was in a coma. Alan could only use his ability on individuals whose eyes were open. So, he decided to speak with Steve's colleagues to gather some information. Additionally, Alan was planning to visit the location where the police discovered Steve. Who knows? Maybe he would be able to find some clues that the police had overlooked.
