After Pokémon class was finally done, Lavra looked around. Terri was nowhere to be found. Did she disappear? No, she couldn't have. Even a girl as shy as Terri couldn't be invisible. That only happened in manga.
After thinking that, she saw Terri already at her car, her Jolteon fawning all over her.
Aww, missed my chance... Lavra slumped her back.
That disappointment didn't last long, though. She noticed one of her classmate's Granbull beating up on a Cyndaquil in the tall grass. The Cyndaquil was extremely weak, but the boy commanding the Granbull wouldn't catch it, but instead kept beating up on it.
She broke the window and jumped out. Even though she was on the tenth floor. One of the Pokémon she recently evolved would really come in handy now!
Lavra took out a Nest Ball and threw it to the ground below her.
"I choose you, Toriho!"
Toriho was a female Staraptor who bonded with Lavra as a Starly. Pokemon technically couldn't be brought to school, but they could be safely tucked into their respective Poké Balls. Many students disregarded the rule "No Pokemon allowed." Lavra was one of them
Around the fifth floor she got onto Toriho and flew to the poor Cyndaquil's aid.
Namely by scaring the hell out of the boy by jumping off Toriho and kicking the Granbull. It fainted by the sheer gravity of the kick.
"Granbull is unable to battle! Lavra wins!" She said with a laugh.
"Why did you kick Granbull?! You Pokémon Hoarder!" The guy insulted Lavra while asking the reason why she kicked his Granbull.
"At least I don't beat Pokemon senseless! You should have caught the Cyndaquil instead of bullying it!" Lavra yelled back.
"I already have 6 well trained Pokemon. All others are a waste of my time!"
But Lavra already was near the Cyndaquil. It was edgy and had obviously lost faith in humans. Even Lavra, with the amount of experience she had with her own Pokemon, could only crouch at the tall grass.
"Hey, are you OK?"
The Cyndaquil fainted before it could reply. It seemed like it was holding on for dear life. Hoping someone would save it.
When Lavra looked back to beat the kid senseless for what he had done, he was already gone.
"Tch. He couldn't even take responsibility for his actions! Ugh, this is why I hate humans." Lavra stated.
But the anger she felt didn't last long. The Cyndaquil took priority over her temper. She picked up the injured Cyndaquil, got onto Toriho and flew to the nearest Pokemon Center.
"It'll be fine, I promise. Nurse Joy will make you all better." Lavra's voice, usually loud, was quiet for once as she coaxed the poor Pokémon.
It seemed like Cyndaquil's edginess subsided just a little bit while Lavra coaxed it. She realized all this Pokémon needed was time and kindness.
Maybe the same could be said for meeting Terri. Well, she would probably want a friend sooner than later. So, Lavra resolved to say hello to her the next day.
One wasted chance can lead to a better chance! At least, that's what Lavra thought.
