I Want to be Friends

"I'm home!" Lavra exclaimed.

No answer.

"I guess it's another workday for Mom. Well, I guess that's just the way it is." She sighed.

Her mother, Magla Volcan, was the Fire-type gym leader in the Aria region. Her brother, Envo, was in the Sinnoh region trying to become a Pokémon Professor. Why he didn't become a Rhyhorn Racer, she never would know. He always was smart, but he should have followed his dreams.

Well, it wasn't so bad. At least she had quality time to spend with Cyndaquil.

Lavra went to the kitchen to get some food for Cyndaquil and herself and went up to her room.

When Lavra opened the door, Cyndaquil was still on the bed she had originally made for her Larvesta to keep it warm. Now that Larvesta was a Volcarona, she was deciding what to do with it before Cyndaquil came to her.

"Cyndaquil? I have some food for you." Lavra put the food down.

It was fire type Pokémon food, but Cyndaquil sniffed it and turned its head in disgust.

Lavra sighed, "I know that you have no trust for me, and I get why. But can you at least try to eat? You haven't eaten anything in days."

Cyndaquil turned its back to Lavra. It was still too weak to activate its flames.

Lavra had no idea what to do. She wasn't a breeder and didn't know what nutrition would be good for a fire type.

She knew the feeling of being distrusting but still wanted to make friends.  She knew that her constant bothering of Terri wouldn't work, but still wanted to try. She never had someone she could call a friend in her life. Everyone was too scared of Lavra's temper to get close.

Unlike her trying with Terri, she couldn't wait for Cyndaquil to trust her. Cyndaquil wouldn't last that long.

What should I do? Should I add something to the food?  Lavra thought.

"Cheese, maybe?" She said out loud.

Cyndaquil's demeanor didn't change, but its aura did a little. Was it really that simple? Cheese?

Lavra dashed down the stairs. "I thought I saw cheese in the fridge!"

She opened the fridge door in a hurry.

There was some swiss cheese! Yes!

She cut up the cheese and sprinkled it on some of the fire type Pokémon food but realized that cheese wouldn't be enough to heal the Cyndaquil. So, she added some oran berry pulp to it.

She ran back upstairs and put the food down near the bed.

"Do you want this Pokémon food?" She asked.

Cyndaquil turned around and sniffed the food.

C'mon, please work! Lavra thought.

Lavra then saw the weak Pokémon take a bite!

Tears welled in her eyes. Finally! It took a bite! Cyndaquil could get better!

After that one bite, it gobbled down the food in a flash. Seems like it was hungry.

Lavra kneeled down and looked at Cyndaquil.

"Cyndaquil, listen, I.. I know I'm no good at meeting people or Pokémon eye to eye, but I just want to be friends. I want to be able to be with you and keep you safe. You don't even have to be in a pokéball. Would you trust me? Please?" Lavra told Cyndaquil.

Cyndaquil looked up at Lavra's tear-stricken face, and its face softened a little.

'Thanks for the food.'

Lavra smiled. Maybe, just maybe, Cyndaquil would be a good partner to her.

And maybe, just maybe, she could become better friends with Terri, too.
