"Any chance it's going to be an early night for you?" Logan asks hopefully as we all rise from the table. There is still some tension between Ainslee and Chase and I think both groups are ready to split off and drink themselves stupid.
"I have no idea. Lauren asked me to keep an eye on Ainslee if she started to drink too much and seeing how much she tossed back at dinner, she might need a babysitter." We all funnel out of the backroom and into the hallway. Ainslee has her arm wrapped around Tory's and they are dashing ahead of everyone, eager to go dancing. She hasn't looked at me since I took my celebratory shot and I think she's peeved that I won a game she thought she had in the bag.
"That's what Tory is for. Maid of Honor is the appointed babysitter," Logan retorts but I don't think Tory has any intention of stopping Ainslee from going crazy tonight.
"What about you," I ask Logan before we get to the entrance of the restaurant. "Shouldn't you be getting sloppy with Chase and not wondering when I'll be done?"
"All the guys just wanna get drunk and hit on girls, and the girl I want to hit on will be at a different club."
"All the guys?" I ask with a laugh. "Two of the five aren't." He eyes me and his look is saying that's not necessarily so.
"It's a bachelor party, shit like this is supposed to happen," Logan drops down to tell me quietly and my stomach flips. I sincerely hope Chase isn't that much of a scumbag that he'd cheat on Ainslee three days before their wedding.
"Shit like what?" I ask but he just mischievously shrugs in response. We've all spilled into the resort and one club is to the right while the other is to the left. This is literally where we are supposed to split off.
Ainslee is now hanging onto her groom by his short pockets and Tory is giving Alex one last chance to come with her. Jesse has already headed off to smoke somewhere and Mike and Callum are yelling at Chase to ditch the bride already. Normally, I'd love a good fun girls' night, but these aren't my girls.
Logan pulls out his wallet and slides out a key card. He hands it to me and says, "Text me when you're leaving, and use this if you want to hang." I take it from his fingers. I was very forward in the lounge but I am less confident now. Am I ready to sleep with Logan? I'm down for casual sex, but this is now a solid crush. This isn't a hump and dump I never have to see again.
"Is this a spare or your only keycard?" I ask him, avoiding the invitation. He pats his pocket and says, "No. I got the other. Just in case you end up being done before me and want to leave your dress on my floor." Alex yanks on Logan's arm, pulling him away from me and I stand there with his key in my hand.
"Googly eyes can be done tomorrow. Let's go get fucked up," Alex says as he drags Logan away from the group. Chase finally peels away from Ainslee and Maddie is demanding girl time. I follow behind Lauren and she slows her pace to walk with me.
"You don't think there will be drama do you," I ask her quietly even though we are a few paces behind the other girls. She flits her round blue eyes to me and gives me a fuck yes there will be look. "We can't just dance and have a good time?"
"Oh, we'll have a good time until they start making asses of themselves," she scoffs and I try and hide my concern.
"You seem to know from experience." She gives me a short nod and I add, "She seems to want nothing to do with me since that game. I worry it's going to linger into tomorrow."
She shrugs, "Maybe she should know her fiancè better then."
"I don't want to cause drama."
"They will all cause their own drama. With or without you here." I nod and leave it alone. Lauren seems to be just as uninterested at being at the club as I am.
