After what had happened with Kaigaku Mr. Urokodaki sent Zenitsu and Tanjiro home for the night. Zenitsu said that he could go home alone but Mr. Urokodaki insisted that Tanjiro go with him to make sure that Zenitsu got home safely. Sabito offered to give them a ride but both boys decided just to get a taxi instead. Once they both had changed they headed out to where the taxi was waiting. Zenitsu got in quickly with Tanjiro following right behind. Once the taxi started moving the silence was too much for Tanjiro.

"So, you wanna talk about it?" Tanjiro asked to test the waters.

"He's just some Alpha prick I met while on my date the other day." Zenitsu was looking out the window trying to calm himself. He'd never tell Tanjiro but something about Kaigaku scared him to his core.

"He seems pretty into you for only meeting you one time." Tanjiro said, rubbing his chin.

"He didn't like it when I told him no. He is just another Alpha who thinks that all we are is something fun for them to play with." Zenitsu said the words cold as ice. By the way Zenitsu said we, Tanjiro knew exactly what he ment, he ment Omegas. "You know how it is, all Alphas are like that."

"Not all." Tanjiro said just above a whisper, anyone else would have missed it but with Zenitsu good hearing he heard it plain as day.

"They are nice now but it won't last." Zenitsu said, fighting back tears. He knew deep in his heart that saying that pained him, he was falling in love with his mate. But he knew that once he said it and accepted the alpha that Uzui would change. He didn't want him to change, he loved Uzui's kindness and bright smile.

"I think that it will. They love us." Tanjiro said, trying to defend both their mates. He knew that Zenitsu was scared right now and he really didn't mean what he said.

"Look, I'm glad you're getting along with your mate. And I hope I am wrong and at least some Alpha in the world think better of Omegas." Zenitsu said, finally looking at his friend.

"But?" Tanjiro added knowing his friend had more to say.

"But I have this feeling that our mates are hiding things from us. And the painful truth is it is because they don't really care about us." Zenitsu let the tears flow, the ones he had been fighting so hard to hold back. Tanjiro was silent for a minute, he had to admit that he felt that Rengoku was withholding something from him. But then he remembered the look of love Rengoku had in his eyes when Tanjiro told him about his job.

"I'm sorry you feel this way but my mate loves me." Tanjiro said firmly. Then Zenitsu turned his head away again, not wanting to fight. "And yours love you." Tanjiro added a little softer hoping his friend heard the truth in his words.

After the short and silent car ride home, both boys went straight to their rooms. Zenitsu took off his collar and stared at it. He rubbed his hand along it. He remembered the day his Gramps gave it to him. He was about 15 years old when his gramps gave it to him, Gramps told him it was to protect him. For a while Zenitsu did his best to hide it under his uniform, just because he was an Omega didn't change anything about him. But he didn't want his friends and classmates to see. And he was getting away with it until one day he was getting ready for PE in the corner of the changing room when a classmate as a joke stole his coat off his back revealing the collar. All the other males stared at Zenitsu, some with disgust and other with a twisted look of lust. Zenitsu ran out of the changing room and went home.

Zenitsu forced himself to stop thinking about the memories of his youth, not many were happy. Still looking at his collar, Zenitsu felt a flare of anger wash over him. He threw the collar as hard as he could against his wall. With a huff and a sigh Zenitsu started crying harder than he had ever before. Whether Tanjiro believed him or not he hoped he was wrong about Uzui and Rengoku but Zenitsu knew they were hiding things.

Zenitsu moved to lay on his bed as he continued to sob. A small soft beep made him look up from his pillows. He picked up his phone which was the source of the sound and looked at the text he had just received. Even though he had almost stopped crying he start to bawl again, the text was from Uzui.

Goodnight my little mate.

Love Tengen.

He wished his mate would stop this farsade. All it was doing was hurting Zenitsu. Wiping his eyes He decided to end this before he was hurt or worse he fell too far in love with Uzui he would do something stupid like let him bite him and form a bond. So he steadied himself and wrote a text back. Then quickly turned off his phone and continued to sob. There was nothing Zenitsu could do after all this was his painful truth.

I don't think this is going to work. Don't contact me again. I'm sorry, please find a different mate.

Zenitsu.
