xvii. the wilderness chose

it was now the next day and everything had calmed down...for the most part

since marley didnt get as many hits as she wanted on shauna she just had a busted lip and a black eye (sadly) 

"the fuck you looking at, got a staring problem?" marley spat at shauna before getting a smack in the chest by ethan as she just scoffed 

"you cannot touch him, he's mine!" akilah yelled which made everyone look at the two girls 

"sit down" ethan said sternly and marley rolled her eyes before plopping down by the fire

mari sat by the fire, with her pan and some water boiling in it 

"i found this in jackie's luggage..could be protein, right?" van asked and marley snorted 

"ahh, the special, 'marley and ethan's dead sisters belt' soup" marley said which got her a short snort from ethan which he didnt mean to let out

"sure, go ahead" gen said to shauna as she had took the blanket 

"you're not using it and lottie's cold" shauna said to gen and marley looked up at shauna

she began to stand up but ethan pulled her down and marley put her face in her hands, shaking her head 

"now you give a shit about lottie?" melissa shot at shauna and marley pointed her hand at her 

"thank you!" marley said 

"hey!" 

"and here she go" marley mumbled while rolling her eyes 

"lottie took it from her to protect us, dont let that be for nothing" van said 

"oh please-stop cutting me off!" marley mumbled to ethan as he had elbowed her for the 100th time 

"you keep saying dumb shit so now i have to stop you" ethan told her and she mocked him 

marley's eyes stayed on shauna as she walked up the attic 

once shauna was out of sight, marley leaned her head on ethan's shoulder 

after an hour or so mari started looking around 

"its back" she said eerily as she stood up 

"the dripping, i-i just heard it" mari said while taking a few steps forward and then tai sat up 

"i hear it too" tai said and mari looked back at her 

"really?" 

"you do?" van asked, picking her head up 

"yeah, i think...it sounds like maybe its coming from over there" tai said while pointing to where she hears the dripping
