"...All I'm saying is... give us a choice the next time you sign a contract with the government." Bradley gripes carrying out a perimeter check.
He thinks it's morally wrong what we're doing because the government put people behind bars for what they're paying us to do. Tonight, we're extracting and transporting a 'package' for them.
"Admit it though, these upgrades are the shit! I can't believe we haven't got them in our inventory." Jordan adds from his camouflage.
For once, he's not bitching. He's been complimenting the body armours since we donned them. They're sleek black hi-tech suits that comes with night vision cameras.
The Government provided them after our risk assessor carried out an analysis on the mission brief. Nothing was held back when we were given the run down. The level of danger is high and the risk to life even higher, so for our protection we requested safety equipment, and each of us were given a suit and helmet.
"They're alright..." Bradley approves. "...but wearing them doesn't make me feel any better about what we're doing."
We don't know much about the operation. The only instruction is discretion when we recover the package from the militarize building thirty minutes outside the port, and we're to leave no traces when it's delivered to the mayor's office back in the city.
"I smell bullshit. Why do they need us suited and booted?" Jordan starts up.
"I hope we get to keep them," Sevyne says from inside a shipping container.
I hate that she's alone. She's in the safest place in our formation, but if anything should happen, it will be difficult for any of us to get to her.
"Once we complete this contract, we should keep-" Riot starts but she gets disconnected.
It's unusual for that to happen so I check my tracker to see where she is.
"Riot?!" She doesn't reply to Jordan and I get more alert when I don't see her signal blinking.
"Bradley did you see anything?"
He's along the same lines as her so he should know something. "I can't see her," he confirms back.
"Sevyne, tell us something," Jordan grates with panic in his voice.
"I'm not picking up anything, but everything looks normal around you. Maybe her headset got cut off."
"And that doesn't seem abnormal to you Sev?!" Jordan snaps.
He's right, this never happens. It's my responsibility if anything happens Riot and in no mood in no mood to fuck around, my instructions comes out firm and unplayful.
"Sev, something is off so dig deeper. Bradley, I have eyes on our front- go look for her. Jordan keeps your eyes on our backs. If anyone comes too close, you know what to do."
"I'm just waiting to pull the trigger Micah. Find Riot before I start to panic."
Jordan's acknowledgment and him calling me by name tells me how serious he is. The only time he did that was when I interviewed him.

After ten minutes, Bradley informs that Riot is duck down between two container and she's cornered in by few men patrolling the area.
"I think something's jamming her signal. She keeps checking her tracker," he tells us further.
"Can you get her out?" Jordan asks and I hear his weapons click.
"Not without giving away our presence." Bradley warns him.
"Fuck! How are we gonna get her out then?! Sevyne what's the status can you bypass whatever is jamming her signal?" Jordan stresses.
