*Flashback*
Winter had started, Eliza had been overjoyed at the sight of the first snowflakes. How she had ran outside like a child to catch the flakes on her tongue, but her hands soon began to get a chill to them. She hadn't realised how long she had been outside but the clock in the common room indicated it had been a good hour and a half- the snow had got easier by the end of it and dampened her hair slightly giving them slight waves at the bottom. Ominis sat by the fire heating himself up; his cheeks looked slightly flushed. Tickling the side of his face he beamed at her touch
"Eliza..." breathlessly saying her name her heart beat a little bit faster whenever he spoke so softly. Pecking his cheek Ominis touched it instantly with a gentle smile on his lips
"My snake" she had tried to give him a cutesy nickname when they first started dating but all she could think of was that of a snake, for his gift of Parseltongue. It had intrigued her the moment he spoke it when they searched for Salazar Slytherin's secret room and he had opened his lips, how Sebastian had remarked he felt left out when surrounded by so many gifts.
"My rose, you're freezing. Come warm yourself up, you need a pair of gloves if you're going to go out into the snow" holding his hands around hers pushing them slowly to the fire. Her body relaxed when she could start to feel her fingers again. They had just started the 7th year and had been apart through the holidays. Since returning back to Hogwarts she had wanted nothing more than to just be in his presence. Admittedly she had fallen hard for him yet had never used those 3 little words that could let him know just how much she cared.

And for good reason.

A few months later he had begun to grow cold and pull away from her- whenever she approached him he would make his excuses and leave to go elsewhere, when she had asked Sebastian about it he had remarked that the same was happening to him too with Ominis and it was probably best to just let him go through whatever was going through his mind and that he would soon return to them.

Valentine's Day hit her the hardest. She had planned to at least confront him or ask what was happening. Along with she had purchased him a gift of sorts. Either way she would have an answer.
"Ominis" her palms sweaty, throat drying at the look he gave her, it was cold and expressionless
"Yes?" He towered over her, his hair not a single strand out of place.she had noticed the change in his clothing had gone to a lot more blacks and greys as opposed to the splashes of greens and silvers.
"Why have you distanced from me...I-I thought we had something" his smirk cruel, twisted
"Oh Eliza, you are ever the fool. What we had was nothing, just a casual fling. You really thought we would go further than this? I pity you" her eyes stung with tears, how could he be so cruel to her. Running out of the common room she didn't know where to go- the crypt would only run further risk of him appearing, the next best thing was the Astronomy tower her and Amit would go when they wanted to stargaze.

Vibrant oranges mixed with the sleepy blue, Eliza wanted her troubles to just wash away with the setting sun. She never thought he could be so cruel to her yet he had been. He had taken her heart, stamped on it and then handed it back with pieces missing.
"Space for one more?" Wiping away the tears that stained her cheeks she weakly grinned at Sebastian. His hair bounced with each step
"Yeah sure of course" sitting next to her she noted his cloak still had petals dusting it, picking out the stray one from his curls. They sat in silence for a few moments before her eyes watered once more.
"He was cruel wasn't he?" Her nod his answer, frowning she just wanted the pain to go away
"D-do you think if I'd told him I loved him it would have made a difference?" Shaking his head she broke down. She had always hanged on to the hope if she had told him she loved him it would have made him see sense. She was such a fool. Just like he said.

Her heart grew colder, whilst she remained friends with everyone and gave them small talk- she avoided Ominis in the common room, the hall or anywhere else she spotted his wand flashing or his voice coming closer. No one had spotted her change of behaviours but Sebastian knew, he always knew. It's why he was her best friend.
