*Ominis flashback*
Sometimes he wished angels was real, he would ask them the meaning of things. Yet whenever he heard Eliza laugh at one of his cheesy pickup lines or felt the softness of her lips press on his he knew she must be an angel in disguise. She gave him purpose in a bleak world. The content bliss he felt around her wrapped him in a warm blanket, squeezing slightly. Yet his meeting with Professor Sharp set him back very quickly into the world of reality
"It says you want to be an Auror Mr Gaunt? You understand its a difficult job, especially for- well how do i put this politely... someone who is blind like you are. Any friends you once had you would need to distance from due to the off chance you may need to arrest them or find them deceased in a case. Any loves consider them done, they can be used against you as hostages in extreme cases. I've kept myself single and only acquainted with the Professors here on the off chance that may happen. You need to be serious about it along with possibly having to use curses I know you aren't particularly keen on" Ominis sighed, he had a feeling this would be the case, he had hoped he could work his way around some of the circumstances.
"Yes Professor, and I'm very serious on the matter, whilst I don't approve of those curses in a situation where they have to be used I would. Is there no other way I couldn't keep in touch with friends?" Sharp's chair squeaked when he leant back
"No, and if you think that you can then I can't recommend you going forth in Auror training"
"Fine by me. If its for the best then I'll do what I can in distancing myself" shaking his hand, Ominis left with the results heavy on him.It killed him inside to be so cruel to Eliza; he was grateful he couldn't see in times like this so he couldn't see her face stained with tears he had caused, when he knew she had left he slid down the fireplace side to silently cry. It was bittersweet for them that it was Valentine's Day and he should have been presenting her with roses that smelt like her perfume, or jewellery that he could just imagine would adorn her neck gracefully. Instead he had cruelly hurt her, but to be an Auror he had to do it. He couldn't protect her if someone was to come after her for what he did at work, it was probably best it was this way, at least then she could move on and meet someone who treasured her. Who could see her smile or her eyes light up as they wooed her softly, she deserved so much more. Admittedly a part of him died that day. Leading to a downfall that had no intention of stopping.
*Sebastians POV*
He could hear her crying in the other room- he could only imagine how torn she must be right now. Her door cautiously opened, shutting his eyes he pretended to be asleep. Tiptoeing past him and Ominis the front door creaked open then closed just as quick.
Giving it a moment he retrieved his cloak to tail behind her. She blended into the crowds well. This couldn't be right... a taller figure joined her from an alleyway, he had to get closer
"Was you followed?" The taller figure spoke deeply, broad shouldered with a click to his heels
"No. I slipped out the room when I had the chance. He doesn't want me to keep on looking, I think he might be right at this point. I think it's best I just go back to Hogwarts" the figure grabbed Eliza's arm, pulling it roughly, she must have winced from the firmness of it, Sebastian wanted to intervene but he needed to hear more at this point
"You'll keep on looking! Or should I remind you what happens if you don't" was she being blackmailed?! Sebastian tried to edge closer to see who the other figure was but couldn't get a good enough angle without being caught. The 2nd figure disappeared into a shop, he could stop and see who it was but he wanted to see where she's going. Right now she was the priority. This walk lasted FOREVER! Sebastians ankles felt like they was being stuck with hot needles. Yet she kept on walking, deeper into woods where the sky was no longer visible and a mist covered the ground.
"I know you're there Ominis. Just leave me alone"
"Not Ominis" pulling down his hood to reveal his face. Taking the cloak off she laid it on the floor and sat with a defeated sigh
"I thought you was him for a moment Seb. I don't want to deal with him right now, I just want to find this chamber and help those who need it" rubbing her arm where she had been gripped.
"Didn't need to lure me into this bloody woods though! Good job I wasn't Ominis or he would have fallen a few steps back into that stream there, hilarious briefly until he starts raging at defenceless fishes or birds" Eliza laughed at his thoughts, pausing he had to ask
"I know you won't tell me who the guy is but will you at least tell me what he has on you? What happens if you don't find the chamber?" Eliza shook her head, holding up his hands he knew not to push too far.
"I can't tell you, lets just say I need to find this and then I'm done. I can go back to teaching" he noticed she had got the ends of her hair trimmed after her Inferi hoard problem, it seemed to be somehow blonder, her eyes greener. Maybe it was just his eyes adjusting to the light difference or she really did have a new air to her.
"Understandable. Shall we go back before Ominis wakes up and wonders where you've gone?" Holding out his hand she took it, raising to walk arm in arm with him in silence.
