"Pa- Papa? A-Are you alright?", Rain asked shyly and was about to dive down as the man turned around slowly.
"Rain, I'm busy at the moment", Terzo said  trying to sound as calm and collected as possible but stared at the Ghoul with warning eyes.
Rain swallowed hardly before he quickly grabbed the ball and returned to the others.
"Thank hell you made it", Aether sighed relieved and caught the ball as it was thrown over at him.
"It was close though"
As the ball was passed on to Secondo, his good mood was visibly putting a good impact on him for he started spinning the beach ball on his index finger.
"Wow, I never knew you could do that Fratellino", Primo exclaimed surprised.
"Well a man must have his secret talents, no?"
"For sure!", everyone laughed and tried copying his move. Yet, as the swimming session came to an end, Sunshine was the only one who could spin it for more than two seconds.
"You're a fast learner", Secondo praised her and everyone stood still.
"Did you just-"
"I heard it too"
Swiss and Sodo looked at each other in shock.
"Did you just praise her?"
"You never praise any of us"
Secondo chuckled.
"Oh it's getting scarier!", Aether had almost dropped his banana.
"I believe for today you all deserve a praise. I am truly grateful for your support and this lovely trip"
"Aw it's no problem", Copia said with spread arms.
"However, I did not say I'd agree to a hug", Secondo quickly moved away before his Fratellino could hug him.
"Naw perhaps another time", he said trying to wave it off awkwardly, still a little disappointed.
"Wow!", Cumulus suddenly screamed.
"Look at the sunset!", Cirrus added.
Everyone looked up at the sky and widened their eyes at the magical view of a dark shade of purple slowly flowing within a deep glow of orange.
"This looks magnificent", Copia mumbled.
"It truly does, look at the stars sparkle too!".
The Ghouls were very excited, a day at the beach turned out to be just as amazing as they had imagined.
"Now let's have dinner underneath this beautiful gift of a scenery", Primo suggested and everyone was in. Soon the group had sat down at a large table, covered in plates of sandwiches and snacks. After a while of eating and chatting, Aether and Sodo started arguing over who gets to eat the last salami sandwich and didn't realise how Mountain used the distraction to grab it for himself.
"Hey, where's the sandwich?", Sodo frowned.
"Mountain, did you eat it?", Aether asked outraged.
The talk Ghoul only shook his head with filled cheeks and lifted his hands innocently.
"So selfish of you to assume the sandwiches were only for you guys", Aurora shook her head.
"Right, let Mountain enjoy it now!", Sunshine backed her up.
"I'll come back to that the next time I give you one of my bananas!"
"Or cookies", Rain now joined the discussion.
Secondo sighed.
"I should've known they'd argue"
"They are like children after all", Copia laughed, wondering whether he'd put away his trike safely.
The loud discussion was silenced by the sound of a fork hammering against a glass.
"Can I have your attention please, mia cara famiglia", Terzo now spoke in a loud voice.
"I would like to raise a toast for my dear brother who is the reason we've got to spend this beautiful day here today".
Everyone now remained quiet and listened respectfully.
"Secondo, you've come along a path that was enduring, tedious, full of obstacles and difficulties. But here you are now, finally free and we all just want to say how proud we are. You're our fratello."
Everyone started clapping and Secondo had to hide a big smile behind his hands, wrapped weirdly around his mouth.
As he knew it had no use, he'd just let it be and smiled in the crowd.
"Wow!"
"Look at that pretty smile", Sister pointed out happily.
"You should smile more often, Papa"
The Ghouls spilled him with compliments and he'd eventually stand up as well.
"How can I leave this day be without a thank you speech. I know the path I've walked was mine but I couldn't have managed it without the help of my truly.. special family. Being trans wasn't my choice but who I am and none of you ever questioned it for a second. You've been so supportive from the very beginning, no matter how rude I can be from time to time. So have a good, long as look at this smile since we don't know when you're gonna see it the next time. And of course, thank you very much, I couldn't have wished for anyone better to be by my side now or ever".
A few of the Ghouls, Ghoulettes and Copia were close to tears, trying to hold it to spare a comment from Nihil but everyone was deeply touched by Secondo's words.
