Hello, this is the second day of daily updates. I have decided to challenge myself to update daily to make up for the fact that my chapters are short as hell. I had a lot of fun writing this chapter. We finally meet Lan Wangji after the death of Wei Wuxian! How would Wei Wuxian react to this? 🤔

How does one begin to describe the sensation of shock so overwhelming that it renders a person motionless, paralyzing them in its grip? It is an emotion that is beyond comprehension until it is experienced firsthand.

As Wei Wuxian's eyes fell upon the crimson-stained ground, the delicate floral patterns now tainted by the blood of Hanguang-Jun, he felt a wave of disbelief wash over him. Hanguang-Jun, the Light Bearer, is the very embodiment of righteousness and a role model for generations to come. What unspeakable transgression had led to such brutal punishment?

The whip, firmly grasped by a Lan Sect Elder, seemed to possess an almost supernatural precision as it effortlessly tore through the flesh of Lan Wangji. It reminded Wei Wuxian of lightning in the dark of night. Yet, not a single cry of pain escaped Lan Wangji's lips. Helpless and bare-backed, supported only by his arms, Wei Wuxian couldn't help but feel that this punishment was designed to be as humiliating as it was agonizing.

Amidst the maze of thoughts clamoring for attention within his own mind, Wei Wuxian struggled to fully comprehend the fact that he was still alive. There was no way that every member of the Gusu Lan clan had perished; they were all present, witnessing this horrifying spectacle.

Driven by instinct alone, his legs propelled him forward, though weariness threatened to bring him to his knees. It was a miracle that he remained upright, fueled solely by adrenaline. Wei Wuxian barely knew how or why he was running, but one thing was clear in his heart—he needed to save Lan Wangji. The knowledge that Lan Wangji despised him with every fiber of his being did nothing to quell Wei Wuxian's determination to alleviate his suffering.

What was wrong with him? "You can't bear to lose another person you care about," a traitorous voice whispered in the recesses of his mind.

Among the spectators of the punishment, it was Wei Wuxian who caught their attention first. They desperately averted their gaze from the pitiful figure on the ground, kneeling in exposed vulnerability, and instead locked their eyes upon Wei Wuxian.

The guards overseeing the punishment also noticed Wei Wuxian's advancing figure. Drawing their swords, they implored the whip-wielding Elder to halt the torment, eager to apprehend the intruder. However, their pleas were drowned out by the sickening sound of the whip cracking through the air and the grotesque squelching of flesh. Left with no other choice, the guards closed in on Wei Wuxian.

Wei Wuxian's talents hadn't dulled in the short span of a few months since his downfall as the head disciple of Yunmeng Jiang. Effortlessly evading their attacks, he deftly maneuvered his way toward Lan Wangji.

In a matter of seconds, he positioned himself between Lan Wangji and the merciless whip. Closing his eyes, Wei Wuxian braced himself for the impact, his ears attuned to the whistle of the whip slicing through the air. He flinched but held his ground.

Crack.

Overwhelmed by fatigue and with his weakened golden core, Wei Wuxian's died instantly. He felt only a flash of unbearable pain before the world faded in his mind.

Leaning into the soft embrace of the grass beneath him, Wei Wuxian slowly opened his weary eyes.

This chapter was slightly shorter than my already short chapters so I apologize for that. Hope you enjoyed that chapter. Things are getting spicy!
