Hello! This chapter is going to be a flashback. It is not based directly on the novel, the live-actionn or the donghua. It's a mix of both and is my interpretationofn what happened during the campaign against Wei Ying.
I hope you enjoy the chapter.
*Flashback*
"WEI WUXIAN! COME DOWN AND PAY FOR YOUR CRIMES" The gathering screeched at Wei Wuxian although their words fell deaf upon his ears. Wei Wuxian was wearing a smile that would burn into the memories of everyone present "Really?" Wei Wuxian laughed maniacally, tears streaming down his cheeks. "He's truly lost it!" the people murmured, looking at Yilling Louzu's expression.
"IF I HAVE TO PAY FOR MY SINS," Wei Wuxian's voice rose to a roar, "THEN WHAT DO YOU SAY ABOUT YOURSELVES? IS KILLING ONLY PUNISHABLE WHEN I'M THE ONE DOING IT?" Wei Wuxian was losing his mind. After the loss of his Shijie, there was no point in trying to politely. If they chose to attack him, they should be well aware consequences yet they still blame him. The audacity! It was enough to make Wei Wuxian laugh.
"YOU DARE COME AND ATTACK ME WHEN ALL I HAVE DONE WAS KILL A COUPLE OF YOUR MEN. YOUR MEN WERE INNOCENT BUT SO WERE THE WENS! HOW IS ONE CASE JUSTIFIED BUT THE OTHER IS NOT?" Wei Wuxian pointed his dizi at the crowd, resentful energy swarming him, his eyes glowing a deadly red. He laughed and laughed. After all, what were they going to do? Stop him?
"Seize him! Justice will prevail!"
The crowd sprinted forward towards Wei Wuxian who was standing at a higher altitude, swords and talismans ready for use. Wei Wuxian just scoffed at the pathetic attempt to kill him. Have all their other battles taught them nothing? Will they continuously blindly believe that their so-called 'righteousness' will save them? It was really pathetic. This entire situation was.
Wei Wuxian raised his flute to his lips, a shrill note breaking through the air. The corpses who have previously fallen rose again, bloodthirsty and ready for revenge. The resentful energy danced in the air, agile as a gas but overbearing as a solid. Red light streaked from Wei Wuxians eyes as his robes fluttered in the spine-chilling wind. His hair, completely undone, a contradiction to his usual ponytail, flowed, obscuring his face from view. This was not Wei Wuxian. This was Yilling Louzu, the founder of demonic cultivation.
The crowd felt the blood drain from their faces, leaving them a deathly pale. Just as they were about to be devoured completely, the sound of a Guqin could be heard through the air. The ground under them glowed a pale blue, freezing the corpses where they stand.
An elegant figure stood next to Wei Wuxian, bearing the robes of Gusu Lan. "Wei Wuxian! Stop the playing!" Hanguang-Jun's voice called out, lunging at him with Bichen in hand. Wei Wuxian laughs while dodging him.
"Ah, Lan Wangji. I always knew we were eventually going to go against each other. After all, you could bearly stand me, even without my demonic cultivation!"
Lan Wangji glared at him. "Wei Wuxian!" Smiling calmly, Wei Wuxian replied, "Lan Wangji."
"Come back to Gusu with me!" Lan Wangji exclaimed, trying to prevent Wei Wuxian from playing. Wei Wuxian's eye's flashed dangerously. "What are you going to do to me if I do go with you? Will you strip me of my powers? Will you cleanse me of all resentful energy? After all, a sect like yours must hate my vile ways-" "IT IS NOT TO PUNISH YOU!" Lan Wangji cut him off, a fiery emotion behind his eyes. Wei Wuxian raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Then what are you going to do? Let me ask you a question, Lan Wangji. Who do you think you are? Who do you think your Gusu Lan are?!"
Lan Wangji looked conflicted for a second. However, after a while, he came to a decision. With a flick of his sleeve, Lan Wangji turned his back to Wei Wuxian, forehead ribbon fluttering as he walked in the opposite direction. His hands were clutched as was his jaw.
Wei Wuxian watched as Lan Wangji leaves, not once bothering to stop him.
Sorry for the slightly shorter chapter. I'm planning to join a few chapters together to create longer chapters once I finish with the story.
As always, comments and tips are appreciated. Have a good day.
