Wei Wuxian descended into the heart of the forbidden land, the infamous Burial Mounds, where an overwhelming presence of resentful energy coated the air, suffocating all who dared venture into its depths. Yet, for Wei Wuxian, this ominous atmosphere held a sense of familiarity, for he had come to regard the Burial Mounds as a second home—a place where the whispers of the dead and the echoes of his troubled past intertwined with the comfort of his second family. The Wen Remnats.

Anxiety gripped his heart as he hastened towards the tree trunk that had served as a hiding place for A-Yuan. With trembling hands, Wei Wuxian reached out, hoping to find solace in the presence of the young boy who had unwittingly become his beacon of hope in a world filled with darkness and despair.

But to his dismay, A-Yuan was nowhere to be found. Conflicting emotions surged within Wei Wuxian's troubled soul, torn between a glimmer of relief and an overwhelming sense of dread. On one hand, the absence of A-Yuan's frail form spared him from the heart-wrenching sight of his beloved companion's lifeless shell ravaged by time and decay. On the other hand, the space left behind ignited a torment of harsh images that flashed through Wei Wuxian's tortured mind.

At that moment, Wei Wuxian stood there, his heart heavy with uncertainty. The echoes of his self-doubt mingled with the ominous whispers of the Burial Mounds, casting shadows of doubt upon his every thought. What had become of A-Yuan? Had he been taken away by forces unknown, or had he somehow managed to escape this treacherous realm? The uncertainty gnawed at Wei Wuxian's core, fueling his determination to unravel the truth and find the young boy he had sworn to protect.

As he gazed into the vast expanse of the Burial Mounds, the very land that had shaped him into who he was, Wei Wuxian couldn't help but feel a surge of bittersweet memories flooding his consciousness. The twisted paths and crumbling gravestones bore witness to his journey, the trials, and tribulations that had tested his resolve and threatened to consume him entirely. The Burial Mounds held the secrets of his past, the remnants of his shattered dreams, and the echoes of a life once lived.

With a heavy sigh, Wei Wuxian steeled himself, his mind determined to push past the suffocating weight of uncertainty. He knew that he had to delve deeper into the forbidden abyss, navigating its treacherous terrain and confronting the demons that lurked within. A-Yuan's fate remained uncertain, and as long as the possibility of his well-being remained, Wei Wuxian refused to succumb to despair.

"Stop. Don't move if you don't want to die."

An unknown voice sounded out as he froze in his steps. The voice had hints of Yunmeng Jiang's accent. Shivers were sent down Wei Wuxian's spine. Whoever this was, they did not have friendly intentions. "Apprehend him," The voice said. The footsteps of several others were heard. How long were they there? How did Wei Wuxian sense their presence?

Wei Wuxian heard the sound of a sword being drawn and his blood ran cold. Was he about to die here? Wait, Wei Wuxian didn't care that he was going to die. He just attempted to take his life several times not even that long ago. Furthermore, even if Wei Wuxian did die, he could always just revive and start over. No matter what happened, that wouldn't be a concern to him.

Just as his breathing slowed, something solid hit the back of his head. It was a sword hilt. His vision went blurry and his eyes rolled to the back of his head. He felt his body become limp and hit the ground before his mind blacked out.

Wei Wuxian woke in a cell. The air was moist and the entire dungeon was dark. His ears were still ringing from being knocked out so forcefully. As his eyes adjusted, he could make out the silhouette of another person in the dungeon with him. The voice called out. Wei Wuxian, with his head pains, did not hear what he said.

Wei Wuxian observed the faint outline of 4 more cells in addition to his own. They were all similar in size and shape.

Without warning, the wooden door to the dungeon was shoved open, creaking as it went. Bright light filtered into the room. Wei Wuxian covered his face with his hand, eyes squinting through the cracks in between his fingers.

"Where is the scum," a horrifyingly familiar voice spoke. Wei Wuxian stopped breathing. Towering over his cell was none other than Sect Leader Jiang. Zidian was crackling against his finger. Additionally, the faint barks and growls of dogs could be heard in the distance.

Jiang Wanyin.

The two brothers finally meet again. Jiang Wanyin also brought dogs with him. What's your opinion on Jiang Wanyin?

I think he is fine. I definitely don't love him as a character. I can't forgive the things he did to Wei Wuxian. For example, he was willing to whip the soul out of his brother's body without even listening to him and also torture the people who are like him without listening to them either. However, I don't think he is pure evil. He is just a human with anger issues and grew up not knowing how to show his emotions because of his parents.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the chapter. As always, comments and tips appreciated. Have a wonderful day :)
