“There you guys are! Oh Azhan, it’s so nice to meet you in person, Weiying!” Without further warning, Madam Lan threw her arms around Weiying in a warm embrace. “I’m so happy for you and Lanzhan.”Weiying hugged her back, rather used to the displays of affection from his family, and feeling slightly guilty for misleading him.
“It’s nice to meet you too,” Weiying said with all of the enthusiasm he could muster.
When he and Madam Lan pulled back, Weiying saw sizhui with His arms around Lanzhan’s neck, squealing in excitement. Lanzhan lifted His off His feet and spun His around once before he set His back down. He was smiling happily. He looked happier than Weiying had ever seen him.
“I missed you so much!” sizhui enthused as he threw His arms around him again.
“I missed you too, kiddo.”
He pulled back and narrowed His eyes at him, but he was still smirking. Lanzhan grinned cheekily in return. He put his arm around his shoulders and turned to face Weiying.
“Sizhui, meet Weiying,” Lanzhan said.
Sizhui came forward with a bright smile and hugged Weiying. “I’m so happy to meet you! I can’t wait to help plan wedding stuff.”
“How about we get dinner before we start in on the wedding stuff,” Lanzhan suggested.
“Yes! I’m starving,” sizhui remarked as he pulled back.
Madam Lan smiled warmly at Lanzhan. “Let’s go fetch our luggage and be on our way then. I’m looking forward to catching up.”
The four of them went and collected Madam Lan’s and sizhui’s luggage before they went out to Lanzhan’s car. Lanzhan loaded the suitcases into the trunk before they piled in and started the drive into downtown. They went out to eat at where Weiying had also met Xichen and Meng Yao for the first time.
They were seated at a private booth in the back. The waiter brought water and menus, and when they were alone, Madam Lan looked at Weiying with a smile.
“Your mom and I have been corresponding all week about the wedding,” Madam Lan told her. “I’m very excited to meet her. She seems like a very sweet woman.”
“She’s excited to meet you too,” Weiying replied with a smile. “And my grandmother, too.”
“Weiying's Mother and Grandmother want us down There a week before the wedding to make sure everything looks good and so Weiying can get fitted for his Suit,” Lanzhan said. “You two are welcome to fly out then, or you can wait until it’s closer to the wedding.”
“We’ll just fly down There with you,” Madam Lan replied with a dismissive wave of her hand. “Ganny and Madam Yu have already asked us, so we can help with the last-minute wedding planning.”
Weiying and Lanzhan exchanged a look.
“Sounds good,” Lanzhan said with a tight smile.
Sizhui reached across the table and touched Weiying’s hand. “I know that we don’t know each other very well, and you would traditionally ask me …” he trailed off for a moment with a shy smile. “But I’ve always wanted to be a bridesmaid and Xichen hasn’t asked me to be one, so I was wondering if maybe I could be one of yours?”
He looked so earnest and sweet that Weiying couldn’t help but smile warmly at Him.
Weiying put His other hand on top of sizhui’s. “I would love for you to be a bridesmaid, sizhui.”
He squealed excitedly and clapped his hands. “Oh my God, you are the best future Brother-in-law ever! ”
Weiying blushed before he felt Lanzhan squeeze his knee beneath the table. When he looked up at him, he was smiling softly at Him. Weiying returned it as his blush deepened.
