Clara's POV
Days have gone by since I last saw her. She had to return to the studio to focus on her work, and I decided to give her space. I didn't want to cause her any stress or worry, so I refrained from reaching out. However, I couldn't resist sending her flowers each day as a reminder of my love.
Despite my efforts, I haven't heard from her. She hasn't reached out to me , and it's driving me crazy. I'm torn between wanting to give her more time and wondering if I should reach out to her to see how she's doing. The anxiety of not knowing is starting to take its toll.
"Miss Alcaraz?" Sofia's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Yeah, sorry. Can you repeat what you just said?" I said absentmindedly.
"You know, sometimes people just need to stop thinking too much and do what their heart desires," she said, handing me a piece of paper with a phone number on it.
Her words hit me like a ton of bricks. I had been overthinking everything lately, especially when it came to Ayleen.
I looked at the number, feeling a rush of emotions. Could I really ask her out for lunch? With a deep breath, I took the paper from Sofia's hand.
"You're... you're right," I stammered, barely finding my words. "I need to stop overthinking and just... take a chance."
Sofia smiled at me, a knowing look in her eyes. "Exactly. You never know until you try. And who knows, maybe Miss Hart has been waiting for you to make a move."
I stared at the phone number, hesitantly putting the numbers in my phone. My hand shook as I dialed, and I heard it ring for a few seconds until I heard her angelic voice ring through the phone.
"Hello," she said softly.
"Ayleen, it's Clara," I said, feeling nervous.
"I know," she said, giggling. Her relaxed attitude made my heart ease up a little.
"I just wanted to check on you and see if you wanted to grab lunch today," I asked hesitantly.
"Oh, yeah sure, we can. But let me call you back and tell you when. I'm caught up at the moment," she said, and I could hear her shuffling through some papers, which I assumed were musical notes.
"Sure, I'll wait for your call," I said excitedly.
"Okay, bye," despite her hanging up before I could respond, I was still happy.
As I put the phone down, I felt a surge of nervous excitement wash over me. Ayleen had said yes. We were going to have lunch together. I couldn't help but smile to myself, picturing how the day might go. Would she dress up for the occasion? Would we talk about music? Or maybe something else entirely?
I couldn't wait for her call. My heart raced as I checked my phone every two minutes, hoping to see that missed call. Every buzz and chime made me jump, wondering if it was her.
However, the call never came, and as hours passed without any update, I began to worry. By 8 pm, I made the decision to reach out to her once more. Though I didn't want to add any pressure, my concern for her safety was genuine.
After a few rings, the call disconnected, which only increased my concern for her well-being. The best-case scenario was that she was simply ignoring me, but I hoped she was safe and possibly home with Mia by then. I thought about reaching out to Mia for reassurance, so I rummaged through my phone to find her number. The phone rang several times before she finally picked up.
Mia's cheerful voice came through the phone, which reassured me that nothing bad happened to Ayleen at the studio. "Hey Clara!" she greeted me warmly.
"Hi Mia, I'm sorry to bother you," I spoke anxiously, starting to feel a bit embarrassed about calling her. "I was supposed to have lunch with Ayleen seven hours ago, but she isn't picking up, and I'm getting worried," I explained nervously.
