Chapter 12- Eris

Chapter 12-Eris

The first few shots aimed straight for Kyten and it looked like he was a goner, but I never heard them hit, I peaked my head up to advance forward so Cragger could get a better shot and saw that they were suspended in mid air. I yelled at him to get down and the bullets fell to the ground, using some of the metal on the front he made a barrier behind us so we could keep shooting. Kyten concentrated and looked like he was about to pass out, then I heard several explosions and the firing stopped. He said he crushed the barrels in their guns so they couldn't shoot, but they still had grenades made out of plastic he had no control over. There were a couple turrets Cragger took out and I took out a couple of the aggressors. Kyten tried to fling a some bullets at the grenades to explode them prematurely but only got a few, the rest landed away from us but the blast still shook us. They must've run out of things to throw at us after awhile so we approached where they were and captured one, Cragger threw him in the back and the rest came after us with machetes and hatchets. They were easy to handle and we had no problem.

"Damn bandits!" Kyten said. "Either they're trying to get in or they're already living here. Either case isn't good news and there's definitely gonna be more soon."

"Well we got a prisoner and he can tell us more, let's head back before even more show up." Cragger said, climbing back in, we got back in with him.

The drive back was short but filled with lots of profanities and slurs, courtesy of our prisoner. I had turned my head at him after hearing a particularly nasty one and saw it was a lion with dirty white fur and a small, white mane. I reached back and grabbed a knife off of him that was strapped to his chest and held it to his throat, which seemed to shut him up for the rest of the way.

When we got back the place was fully set up like a base, the large balloons on the aircraft were fashioned into a few tents with more going up, the craft themselves were connected and put in wheels (like a train) and circled around the camp. We parked and led the prisoner into the camp. Most of the people that noticed us looked at him strange, Lavertus walked over to me and Cragger and told Kyten to help setting up the tents.

"Bout time you two got back, we've been hard at work here getting everything set up. Did ya find anything out about the fortress?" He asked

"Yeah, there's people there, and not friendly ones. I tried to greet them and they shot at us." I told him "one survived and we captured him, hopefully he can tell us more." I said, pushing him towards Lavertus.

"Well that'll be a lot of help. you two, take him to that tent over there and keep an eye on him, I'll be in there shortly." He said to me and then turning to two soldiers as they escorted the scrawny lion away.

"Hopefully we can get some info out of him soon, this will be a huge help in the future Eris, did ya learn anything else?" He congratulated me, we began walking to the tent where the lion was taken and Lavertus grabbed a bucket of water along the way.

"Yeah, the other guy who was with us, Kyten, he told us about a place called Tetsu'Aagra that we could get help from, maybe we should check that place out." I told him, his face began to scrunch up and he grumbled. "What's wrong with there?" I asked in response.

"Well a long time ago my family and the family there had a pretty big falling out and they split, they haven't made up since, at some points outright attacking each other. I'd rather get into another feud with them." He told me.

"That was a long time ago though, you don't think they've forgotten or forgiven you for it? It couldn't hurt to try and contact them." I argued.

"I hope they have they're the only thing we have close to being an ally down here. I'll send out a detachment for the city tomorrow to scout it out." He said.
