*Carl's pov*
"Let's look in this house." I say to Cassie.
"Alright."
"You should keep watch Cass. I'll go clear it."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. I want you to stay safe."
Cassie nods and I walk up to the steps. I smash open the door and look around. I walk into the kitchen, but the cabinets are empty. I keep looking and I see something on top of a cabinet. I grab a chair and pull it out. I climb up and grab the item. It's 112 ounces of chocolate pudding. Chocolate. I think I might cry. I put it in my bag and keep walking around. I climb up the stairs and slowly open a door to my left. A walker immediately tries to get out of the room. The force pushes me back and I fall, shooting twice into the air. I try and move back to get away from the flesh eating monster, but there's a wall. I try and shoot it again, but miss and hit it's shoulder. I try and shoot again, but instead, I'm greeted by the terrible sound of an empty chamber. Great. I hear someone coming up the stairs. It's probably another walker. Just my luck. It's actually Cassie. She shoots the walker and it falls limp.
"How many times am I going to have to save you today?" She says engulfing me in a hug.
"You have to be careful, Carl. No more stupid mistakes."
"Yeah. I know."
She sounds like my mother, so I laugh.
"What's so funny?!"
"You sound like my mom."
"I-I'm sorry Carl."
"No, it's a good thing."
She nods smiling at me.
"I have a surprise for you." I say smirking. I grab her hand and I run up stairs and climb onto the roof. We sit down on the edge and I pull the pudding out of my bag.
"Oh my gosh! Where did you find this?" She asks. Her eyes grow wide and a huge smile grows on her face.
"Inside, before you got there." I say smiling at her. We start to eat the pudding and it tastes like heaven in a can.
"This is so good!" Cassie says. I look at her and just smile. I stare at her for a long time. I completely zone out. She's so beautiful. More beautiful than anything I have ever seen.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" She asks blushing and turning away.
"You're just..so beautiful." I say turning her head back towards me. She looks up at me and I can see her bright, blue eyes.
"I'm not beautiful." She says looking down.
"Don't ever say that. You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen." I say. She looks up at me again. I lean in to kiss her. She flinches back at first, but stops herself and leans in too. Our lips touch and I get that feeling. The feeling where my head and heart are going crazy. I pull away and stand up, reaching for her hand. She grabs it and I help her stand up. I lead her back to the house that my dad is staying in. We finally reach the house and walk back inside. Not even ten minutes after, we hear walkers outside. A lot of walkers.*Cassie's pov*
"We have to get out!" I yell over the sounds. Carl nods and helps his half asleep dad start walking. Rick hears the walkers and automatically wakes up. We look outside and see that the walkers are around every exit.
"Try upstairs!" Carl yells. We sprint up there as fast as possible. I pull open a window and swing my leg out onto the roof. I step out and help Carl and Rick out too. I lower myself into a tree and hop down onto the ground. It was actually a lot easier than I expected. Walkers quickly surround me.
"I can't make it back. Don't try and help me! I'll lead them away!" I yell up to Carl while walking backwards, away from the walkers. I'm dumb. So so so so so dumb.
"I'll find you! I promise!" He yells back. I think he has tears in his eyes. I nod and start running away from the walkers. Little did I know that that would be the last time I would see him for a long time.~
This chapter is really short. Sorry guys. I'm working on a longer chapter right now, so hang in there. Thank you for over 100 reads! ~Lilly
