*Cassie's pov*
I wake up and find myself in Carl's arms. I smile to myself, but then the reality of yesterday hits me. Matt is gone. I can feel the tears behind my eyes, but I have to stay strong. I feel Carl stir in his sleep next to me. When did I get here?
"Hey." He says in a deep, raspy voice. I smile at him and then I lean in to kiss him. I pull away and I smile again.
"Thank you for everything." I say to him.
"I'll always be here for you." He says smirking.
"I love you so much." He adds. I look up into his bright blue eyes. They're so captivating.
"I love you too." I say, putting my arms around him.-
"I hate to say this, but we need to get up." I say to Carl. He groans, but he starts to get out of bed. I jump up and go to grab a change of clothes out of my closet. I grab a flannel and some jeans and change into them quickly. I walk back into my bedroom and grab Carl's hat. I put it on my head.
"Come on. We need to call a town meeting." I say grabbing his hand and trying to pull him out of bed.
"Ugh, fine." He says getting up. He reaches for his hat, but I dodge his hand.
"Nope. I'm wearing it." I say smiling and laughing. He rolls his eyes and I grab his hand. I lead him to the door and we leave the apartment.-
"I called a meeting today because of the events that occurred yesterday. If you were the one who left those gates open, I want you to come see me. After this meeting, I will be at my apartment. Just come over and we'll talk." I say giving everyone a fake smile. Little does everyone know that I'm going to kill whoever did this.
"You're all dismissed." I say again. I walk back to my apartment. I sit down on my couch and just wait. Maybe the person won't confess. Then suddenly, I hear a knock on my door. I basically sprint over to the door and whip it open, but no one's there.
"Hello?" I ask.
"Is anyone here?" I add. The next thing I know, something is being swung at my head, and I'm out cold.*Carl's pov*
I'm going up to Cassie's apartment to go check on her. I still don't trust her alone after yesterday.
"Hey Cass?" I say as I approach her door. But the thing is, the door is open, and no one is inside. I walk in and see her weapons on the table. She never would have left without her weapons, especially after what happened yesterday.
"Cass?!" I yell as I frantically run around the apartment. I sprint outside back to my house.
"Dad! Cass is missing!" I yell.
"How do you know? She's probably on a walk." He says calmly.
"Her door was wide open, she wasn't inside, and all her weapons were inside. She wouldn't go anywhere without her weapons!" I yell again. I'm having a panic attack.
"Carl, breathe. She's fine. We'll find her." He says. I try and slow my breathing down a little bit.
"The person who left the gates open must have kidnapped her! It makes sense." I say to my dad.
"We'll find out who went to her apartment." He says sternly. We walk over to the apartment building and stop at one of the other apartments. A middle-aged woman opens the door and seems kind of scared.
"Hi mam, we were wondering if you saw anyone walk into Cassie's apartment? About a half an hour ago?" My dad asks the woman. She starts to calm down once she sees it's us.
"Why yes, actually. I believe Enid walked over to that apartment a little while ago." She says smiling.
"Thank you." I say and we walk away.
"Of course it would be Enid! Enid likes me! She probably got jealous of Cassie."
"Okay. We'll get a search group ready. We'll find her."*Cassie's pov*
My eyes slowly flutter open. My head hurts like heck. I quickly try and move my hands, but they're tied in front of me.
"C-Carl?" I whisper.
"Oh sweetie, he isn't here to save you." I hear a voice say. The voice sounds familiar. Suddenly, the person comes into view, it's Enid.
"Enid? Where am I?" I ask her.
"Now that, is confidential. See, I'm going to put you in a car, drive you far, far away, and drop you off. I want something you have and that is Carl." She says snickering.
"So you kidnapped me so you can have my boyfriend?" I snap at her.
"Why yes, that's exactly what I did." She says smirking. She then grabs me and pushes me into the back seat of the small car. I need a plan.*Carl's pov*
"The search crew will be Daryl, Carl, Glenn, and me." My dad says to the crowd of people that has formed. The four of us get our weapons and head towards the gates. We step outside, into the real world. I haven't been out here for about a month. That's hard to think. We all start walking down the small road.
"I talked to Aaron and he said one of their cars are missing." Daryl says so everyone can hear. We begin looking for tire tracks.
"Here, these ones are fresh." Daryl says pointing to a dirt, side road. We start to follow the tracks. I really hope we find her. I need Cass.*Cassie's pov*
My plan is to try and talk Enid out of what she's doing. If that doesn't work, then I'll try and get out of this rope and knock her out. She's insane. She's playing a game. As long as I play along, I can win.
"Enid, if you drive us back to Alexandria, I'll break up with Carl. You can have him." I say sternly.
"Like I would ever believe a word that comes out of your mouth." She snaps back.
"You're the one that left the gates open. Aren't you?"
"That's right, sweetie. The walkers were supposed to kill you. I never had anything against Matt."
"You-"
"Save it. Anything rude that you're about to call me, won't help your situation at all." Alright, I guess it's time for plan B. I try and get out of the rope, but it's tied too tight. I have an idea. I quickly use my tied hands and put them around Enid's neck, strangling her. She swerves the car and loses control. The car slides to the side of the road and flips upside down into the ditch. I smash my head against the window since I wasn't buckled. I'm pretty sure my ankle snapped.
"Crap." I say. My hands are still tied so I find a piece of broken glass and try to slice the rope. It finally breaks free. I quickly go and check Enid's pulse. She's alive, but she's out cold. The window next to me is shattered so I drag myself out, afraid to put pressure on my ankle. I can feel it throbbing already. Before I walk back to Alexandria, I take Enid's gun. I attempt to stand up and a stabbing pain goes into my ankle. My sight goes blurry for a few seconds, but eventually goes back to normal. I start to slowly take the road back to Alexandria.*Carl's pov*
"There's a car up ahead!" I yell to the others as I sprint over to it. I look inside the shattered, upside down window and see Enid.
"Carl? Thank God you're here. Your girlfriend went crazy. She tried to kill me."
"Enid, save that crap for later. She didn't try to kill you. You kidnapped her." I say. Enid looks down, embarrassed.
"I did this so we could be together!" She says.
"Well, that's never going to happen." I say back.
"I saw the way you looked at me when you got here." She says flirtatiously.
"That was a mistake that I'll never make again. I love Cassie. And only Cassie." I say back. The other three guys just stand back and let this happen.
"It looks like she took this other road back." Daryl says to me. I nod and start walking.
"What about me?" Enid asks, pretending to be innocent.
"You're lucky I haven't killed you yet." I say back in a cold voice. She looks shocked at what I just said. We start to run down the road and it isn't long before we find her. She's taking slow steps;dragging her ankle behind her.
"Cass!" I yell out.
"Carl?" She says. Her words are slurred together and she's mumbling. She's swaying back and forth. She's out of it. Her head is bleeding like crazy and her ankle is twisted sideways. I grab her arm to try and help her and my dad grabs the other one.
"Come on, let's get you back." I say giving her a weak smile.-
