Valencia woke from an intense pain in her chest. A pain she knew would come sooner or later.
Zed is beginning his transformation.
Her mother told her this would happen after she gave birth to Zed 18 years ago;
"When the Blood Moon rises again two weeks after his 18th birthday, Zed would begin his transformation, so you must be prepared for the pain that will come your way when that happens." Esmeralda told her daughter as she sat next to her on the couch while she held her baby grandson in her arms as he slept.
Valencia looks at her son in her mother's arms, "You mean the pain he will experience that will affect me as well?"
Esmeralda nods at her daughter's question, "Yes, dear. The same experience your father had to go through with you and your brother."
"Will he make it out okay? I heard half-bloods don't usually survive it."
"I'm pretty sure he will. After all, if he's anything like my strong and stubborn daughter, he'll be fine." Esmeralda smiled at her.
Valencia smiled back, "Yeah, and Zed will know he won't be alone and he'll have his whole family there with him when that time does come." She gently took her baby from her mother's arms, cradling him carefully.
Baby Zed woke up with a big yawn when felt the warmth of his mother close to him. He slowly opened his eyes and cooed with a big smile at the sight of his mother.
Valencia chuckled, "Oh my sweet baby, you're so cute!" She then placed her finger on her son's tiny fist and watched as he tightly grabbed onto it.
"No matter what happens, Mommy will always be there for you. I love you so very much." She kissed his forehead.
Valencia then smiled softly at the memory as tears ran down her face.
When she was expecting Zed, Valencia was worried he would be born prematurely due to her being a vampire. But, also him being part zombie, he came out healthy and strong, like she always hoped.
But now, he's suffering because she's not there to be with him during his transformation. The one thing that was supposed to lock the bond between a vampire parent and their child.
The special bond she wished she could've had with Zed and hopefully, Zoey, too. Thus again, fate had other plans and took it right from her.
As of right now, Valencia wants Zed to know that she's here for him all the way, whether he knows his mother is alive or not, she just wants him to hear her voice and maybe hear his too to soothe her that he's safe somewhere and out of Cassius' hands.
She leaned against the wall and concentrated. Before her father passed away, he taught her how to contact other people through mind-link. It was a hard process but eventually, she learned how to use the ability.
"Okay," Valencia took deep breaths, "I can do it." She focused calmly, 'Zed, if you can hear me...'

Wyatt brushed his hand through his boyfriend's hair as he slept. Even in his sleep, Zed was still beautiful to him.
As he continued to watch him, he heard Zed whimper. "Zed?"
The zombie whimpered in his sleep again when he whispered, "Mom."
"Mom?" Wyatt said in confusion.
"Please don't leave me again." Zed turned his head, his whimpering continuing.
Wyatt gently touched Zed's face, "It's okay, I'm here." He rubbed his cheek with his thumb. The zombie unconsciously leaned into his touch, smiling.
Wyatt chuckled, "You're so adorable."
