"Dad... Dad...!"
Y/N woke up with a jolt, their hand flying to their throat. Their other hand moved down to their heart. It was racing. The cat crawled up to their side, comforting them with its warm body.
They let out a sigh, stroking the animal. "Don't worry, Cat. I'm fine." Y/N closed their eyes.
The nightmare came back. It was nights like these that made Y/N wake up in cold sweat and panic. The nightmares used to happen a long time ago but had slowly stopped over time. Y/N recalled how it felt having those nightmares. Nights would pass where they purposely kept their eyes open to keep from falling asleep. They had been afraid to sleep, scared that it would happen again. Now it did happen again.
Y/N lied down again, letting out another long sigh. Why now? They forced themself to sleep but all they could do was toss and turn. By the time Y/N woke up, they were already feeling the consequences of their sleep deprivation. Though they were with Ibuki, they couldn't find the motivation to concentrate on her words at all."Hello? Hellloooo." Ibuki waved at Y/N's face to draw their attention.
"Huh?"
"Are you paying attention?" she pouted.
"I am, I am, sorry."
"Is something wrong? Were you listening to my rant about cheese ball containers?"
"I was," Y/N said, although they were feigning interest.
The cat and its slender legs suddenly jumped onto the bed, standing in between Y/N and Ibuki.
"Hi, little buddy," Ibuki cooed. The cat turned to her and crawled into her lap. "Ibuki missed you too!"
When Y/N came home last week, they weren't expecting to be accompanied by the cat that Nagito had found. It stalked them home from a distance but it eventually caught up to Y/N and Belle. Mom was reluctant to take in the furry feline and went on about how costly it would be to take in a stray cat. She decided to take the cat in on the condition that they take it to the vet. Belle was overjoyed. The only problem was that they couldn't decide on a name.
Ibuki came over for the day to see the cat again. Ibuki was over just a few days earlier to meet the cat for the first time. It warmed up to Ibuki instantly. Turns out Nagito was right. The cat was friendly, which was rare for a stray. Or maybe it was Ibuki's charming personality that made even animals like her. It worked on Jeffery and Belle, for one.
She scratched the part behind his ears. "Is there something you're thinking about, Y/N-chan?"
"What do you mean?"
"You kind of seem distracted."
"I don't know, I'm kind of tired," Y/N told her.
"I know it's the weekend, but you need to sleep more."
"I wish I could." Y/N rubbed their face. They hadn't and didn't plan on telling Ibuki their night terrors.
"But is it just sleep? Are you sure there's nothing else?"
"Uhm..."
Ibuki reached over and put her hand on Y/N's shoulder. "We're friends, remember? You can tell me anything."
"Well..." Y/N debated their words. "I guess I have something to tell you."
"Yeah, yeah?"
"I mostly just need your opinion."
"Okay!"
"I have this situation but I'm not really sure about what to do." Y/N had been feeling uneasy about what Nagito had told them. So many questions ran through their head, mostly having to deal with the future. Asking another person for their opinion was the best action to do at the moment, Y/N concluded. "I have these two friends, let's say, Nathan and Hector. There's this thing and I don't really know what to do about it."
