fate's game

Fate dealt me two cards the other day,
Two cards I would rather not keep.
They're the kind I can't let go, can't forget,
The sort of ones that I cannot put back down on the table.

I can't discard them,
No one else can take them,
They're my cards now,
And they hurt.

But I don't blame Fate.
I can't blame her, she was just doing her job.
I blame the higher power that gave Fate her cards
To give to me.
Because it's just not fair.

No one should get given those cards.
The game Fate and I play is not designed to be fair.
