Unlike the other part of Sirius' summer, the days at James' were amazing. While back home he would lay in his room doing nothing all day, here he and James had something new to spend their time with everyday. Quidditch, games, pranks on the neighbours, movies, bike rides through the village... ("Have you seriously never been on a bike in your entire stupid life before?")

Sirius felt free. Although he was sometimes scared that his parents might suddenly show up at the house, but they did not. They didn't even send him a howler, though it was unrealistic that they wouldn't assume Sirius was there. That should have been a good sign, but Sirius knew that they were so smart that it was a part of their bigger plan. Hearing nothing from them now only meant that it would be worse in the aftermath.

But that was nothing to be worried about, when James and he still had so many things they wanted to do before they'd return to Hogwarts.

"Diagon Alley!", Sirius exclaimed, dropping the floo powder on the ground of the fireplace at the Potters'.

He landed at the Broomstix, which wasn't that good for his mental state, because the view of the many brooms reminded him of his own, that must still sit in his parents' closet. He wandered around in the shop, hesitating in front of the shelf with a Comet 140, the model his own was. He heard a loud "ouch", that signaled him that James had arrived.

"Looking at your quidditch dreams?", he asked, leaning over Sirius shoulder.

"Nah, just missing my broomstick."

"Oh, I get you. We're gonna find an old Cleansweep somewhere in Hogwarts that you can have for quidditch, okay?"

Sirius nodded.

"Have you seen the new Nimbus 1001 yet?"

He went over to the glass vitrine in the middle of the store, where some children were pressing their heads against, goggling at the broomstick inside.

"I've considered buying it, my old Moontrimmer just doesn't do it anymore. Or do you think I should wait until the next model, I mean it is kind of overprized when you compare it to the Nimbus 1000."

Sirius didn't really care, what broom James was flying, as he was good even with the oldest school broom they had at Hogwarts, but it was nice listening to James' ramblings.

"I think you should wait for at least another year. I heard they're working on something big."

In that moment, he looked out the display window and saw Remus and Peter outside, waving.

The two boys left the Broomstix to greet their friends. Sirius gave Remus a hug, that he wanted to hold onto forever, but reminded himself that he had planned to not be awkward around Remus anymore, after their last encounter.

When Remus had left the week before, Sirius tried to make him stay by not letting him get out of their goodbye hug and since then James constantly teased him with that. And he did it again now.

"Should we just glue you two together already?"

Sirius jumped out of the hug quickly and gave Peter one too, so that James would just shut up for once.

They then made their way to Flourish and Blotts, so they could buy their books for school.

Sirius slowed down a little on the way, so that he and James fell behind and dragged him aside, while the others went in already.

"James, please. Stop. You're literally making me look like a complete fool infront of Moony when you do that."

"And that is bad because...?" James dragged the last syllable out especially long.
