Saem smiled, watching the life fade from his eyes. Now that Yeosang was out of the way, he could kill Jongho and get out of here. He knew he'd already set up enough traps to keep the other members out of his hair but with the delay, he needed to hurry.

He turned back to Kyungsoon, ready to give her the next order when a sharp stabbing pain struck him. He looked up, meeting Kyungsoon's eyes as she injected the needle into his arm.

"What are you–"

"I'm saving you."

Saem was suddenly filled with a burning, searing pain, stretching over his every nerve, crumpling him to the ground in agony. He screamed out, writhing as he tried to grab for his sister's hand but she was nowhere near him. He was alone on the ground, unable to do anything but push through and bear it.

As soon as it had started, the burning ceased, leaving him panting as he lay, curled up on the floor. Dripping in sweat, he shakily began to sit up, looking around. Kyungsoon rushed towards him, helping him to his feet.

"I'm sorry, I know it hurts. I couldn't do anything about that. Are you okay?"

He looked up at her in confusion.

"What did you do to me!?"

She held his hands tightly, smiling sadly.

"I cured you."

His eyes widened and he pulled free, staggering backwards.

"Wha–how!? I made you destroy all of the cures!!"

"I know you may have had control over me for a while, but you made one mistake. You released it. I never taught you this, but when you're released from control, you'll remember the darkness. I knew you were using me for something and it scared me. I didn't want to jump to any conclusions so I just used the cure on myself first to make sure I would be able to stop you if I had to. In that time, I hid away my real samples. I couldn't let them be destroyed. I'm sorry for going behind your back, there just wasn't any other way. My serum drove you to madness. It's all my fault."

She reached forward again, trying to pull him into a hug but he shook free, staring at her in horror.

"You–you ruined it!! You ruined everything! How could you!? I'm your brother!"

"Saem, I–"

"So all this time you were just–you lied to me!!"

"You lied to me first!!"

He was taken aback by the intensity of her words.

"You used mind control on me!! That's the one thing we promised we'd never do, Saem!! How could you? I'm your sister!"

He stumbled backwards, leaning on the wall for support.

"You made me release them! All of them!! Do you know what you've done?? People are going to die!"

"That was the goal, Soon-ah! These people hurt you! They were the reason you almost died! You almost left me! And now you're working for them??"

"I'm not working for them, Saem. I'm working for you. I wanted to help you. Not them."

His grip on the wall slipped and he fell to the floor, startling Kyungsoon.

"Saem?? Saem, are you okay?"

He looked up at her in surprise, not expecting her tone to change so quickly. But her face seemed a bit blurry as he tried to read her expression.

"Saem!!? Talk to me!!"

Kyungsoon held his face in her hands, shaking him as she tried to keep him conscious. It was only then that she looked down at his injuries.

The blood that had been pouring from his hand wound. The drip from his thigh.

His wounds hadn't had time to heal.

She'd turned him too fast.

"SAEM!!" she shrieked, reaching to cover them with her own hands but he was already fading fast.

She staggered to her feet, running to grab the special serum again when he used what strength he had left and spoke up.

"Soon-ah..."

She stopped, turning back, eyes brimming with tears.

"I'm...sorry."

She shook her head, continuing forward to grab the serum. She found a vial and raced back, throwing herself to the ground as her hands shook, trying to uncap the needle. But Saem held up his hand, shaking his head as his eyes slowly lost focus.

"Don't let me become a monster again. I don't want to be angry anymore."

She sobbed, pulling her hand back as she set the syringe on the ground. She leaned forward, pulling her little brother into a hug as she cried, knowing she couldn't bring herself to do it anyways.

He was too far gone.

It had all been her fault.

She had made him suffer. He deserved a peaceful rest. Away from all of the damage.

After a few minutes, he fell limp in her arms.

She set him down, turning back towards the shattered glass around the lab. Stumbling forward, she knew what she wanted to do.

She knew the others would blame her for whatever he'd caused upstairs. And as the older sister, it was her job to take responsibility. She wasn't sure she could keep the deep sadness she felt in her chest from showing if she had to face them. So she needed to be gone before they got here.

She heard banging on the lab door, realizing the timing was running a little too close.

Quickly, she reached for a shard of glass, bringing it up to her neck. But just as she did so, the voice of the other boy spoke up, hardly more than a whisper.

"You saved us."

She turned to Yeosang who still lied immobile on the ground, eyes hardly even open as he looked up at her.

"I'm the one that put you in danger in the first place. There's no way I can make up for the lives I've taken. Don't you ever call me a hero."

He laughed bitterly, covering his wounds tightly.

"Thank you," he whispered.

"The cure is in the locked fridge. The one Jinyoung set aside just in case. I figure you've got the key to it?"

Yeosang nodded, looking away as he knew what would come next.

Tears fell from her eyes as she glanced down at her hand, bringing the glass to her throat and slicing, the world turning dark in an instant as her body fell to the ground.
