Seungmin couldn't do anything but dodge, throwing himself to the side as Chan barrelled into the small space, his face coming within inches of Seungmin's skin.

"CHAN! SNAP OUT OF IT!" Jeongin screamed, causing him to turn and face him.

"Jeongin! GO!" Seungmin cried, scrambling to a standing position and reaching for the wooden pieces on the floor.

Jeongin stood frozen as he stared into Chan's cold, crimson eyes.

"Hyung...can you hear me?"

He suddenly launched forward, his hands wrapping onto Jeongin's shoulders as he threw him across the room.

Seungmin's eyes widened as he tried to call out but didn't have time to react as Chan started to go in for the attack once again.

Unable to react fast enough, the only thing he could latch onto was Chan's ankle, which he barely caught with his right hand, tripping him. As Chan's body hit the floor with a loud crack, Seungmin reached over for the wooden pieces, trying to find the one he'd had his eye on.

"Jeongin! GO! Get out of here!"

Jeongin winced as he managed to regain his footing and nodded, stepping up on the bed as he avoided the reach of the zombie on the floor. Chan's eyes followed him and he turned with his every movement, pulling free of Seungmin's grip and starting to charge again.

But Seungmin was faster.

He found the shard, standing and jamming it as hard as he could into Chan's eye, right into his brain.

The motion made him lose his balance and Chan's unconscious form turned on him, taking both of them down to the ground. Jeongin rushed to grab him but couldn't get a hold on him as he passed the edge of the bed.

He landed with a loud crack.

"SEUNGMIN! SEUNGMIN TALK TO ME!"

Jeongin ignored his order to run, seeing as they were out of danger and clamored to the floor, shoving the lifeless form off of Seungmin's chest. But when he met his eyes, they were unmoving.

"Min??? MIN??"

Jeongin shook his shoulders, patting his face, doing whatever he could to keep him conscious.

But a warm liquid under his knee answered his questions. His eyes followed the puddle of blood to where Seungmin's head rested against the ground. The back of his head rested awkwardly against the leg of the bed frame, blood pooling from the wound.

Jeongin's eyes widened as he looked back at Seungmin's eyes.

He was...

He was dead.

Jeongin stared at his slumped form in horror, unable to move.

"No, no–wake up! Come on, wake up!" he cried, softly tucking stray hairs behind his ears as he tapped his cheeks.

Chan started to stir on the floor next to him but he didn't notice.

"Come on, Minnie, wake up!!" he sobbed, holding his face in his hands as he bent forward in tears.

Chan's arm twitched against Seungmin's side, jolting his body enough that it caught Jeongin's eyes. He turned slowly, hardly even able to see through his tears.

Chan looked around in confusion, reaching for the stake in his eye, trying to get it out. Jeongin shook in fear and anger, letting out a frustrated sob as he brought his hands to his mouth. He started to scoot backwards, reaching for more wood but Seungmin had grabbed the only viable piece.

"Chan, it's me! Please, please don't do this!" he sobbed, a rage building inside him for whatever sick individual had started this.

The wood finally came loose and Jeongin had to look away from the empty eye socket, gagging. Chan reached a hand up to his eye, covering the spot as it started to heal over. Jeongin knew he only had one option.

Run.

But that meant leaving him behind.

He squeezed his eyes shut, biting back tears as he jumped over the dresser, taking off at full speed down the hall.

It wasn't fair.

Everything was fine.

Why now? Right when they thought they were safe??

Tears flowed down his cheeks as he ran and he didn't have the strength to wipe them. The only thing keeping him moving was the screams throughout the building. All the others who needed help.

But he was just one, helpless person.

They needed order.

They needed the leaders.
