San took a slow sip of his coffee, his thumb sliding gently back and forth over Wooyoung's knuckles. Wooyoung's eyes were turned away, staring worriedly at Seonghwa.
"I really worry about him," Wooyoung muttered, squeezing San's hand.
"Go talk to him. See how he's doing."
Wooyoung shook his head.
"Every time any of the members approach, he puts on a big smile. You can't get anything out of him. I think he's trying to be strong for us but I can't even imagine how much he's hurting. We all lost loved ones. But...well, you know how those two were."
San nodded, holding his hand steady.
"It's only when he's alone that he lets it all out. Last night...I heard him," Wooyoung said softly, looking away.
San paused, eyes widening.
"It was around 3 or 4. I don't think he slept at all. It was quiet but it didn't stop for the hour it took me to fall back asleep."
San felt his grip tightening on Wooyoung's hand as he turned to look at Seonghwa. Though he had a soft smile, his eyes looked absently at the tea before him. His fingers fidgeted with the ring on his left hand, twisting it in slow circles.
"Did he have that ring before? It looks familiar but I can't remember where I saw it," Yeosang said, slowly approaching the table.
San and Wooyoung turned together, before glancing at each other. Wooyoung looked away. San looked down as he spoke.
"It's Hongjoong's."
Yeosang paused as he was about to sit, nodding slowly.
"Oh."
He took a seat, placing his latte down and setting his elbows on the table, resting his chin on his hands.
"How are you holding up?" Wooyoung asked softly, pulling away from San's hand to rest his hand on Yeosang's arm.
"I'm joining the medical team."
Wooyoung sat up, turning his head.
"The medical team? But...do you have any medical experience?"
Yeosang shook his head.
"No it's not for the injured. It's about...finding a cure."
Wooyoung and San leaned closer.
"There's a cure?!" Wooyoung hissed, not wanting to make a scene.
"Not yet. It's just a start. But with the vials Changbin took, they might be able to finally get it right."
Wooyoung nearly let out a sob, gripping Yeosang's arm.
"Are you serious?!"
San's eyes pulled away as he looked over at Seonghwa. What if they could still save him?
All of them.
Well...
Most of them.
"San! Are you listening?! This is crazy! We need to tell Seonghwa!"
Wooyoung stood, but just as he took a step San grabbed his arm, shaking his head.
"We don't know that it'll work. I don't think he can take another disappointment," San whispered.
"Are you serious? San, look at him! He needs something to hold onto. Something other than that ring."
San took a deep breath but stood his ground. His eyes were level with Wooyoung's.
